The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, December 9, 2021, continues the long con about Billy Abbott’s breakdown, as Lily Winters pulls the wool over Victoria Newman Locke’s eyes, Billy attempts to do the same to Adam Newman, and Mariah Copeland continues lying to herself.
Billy (Jason Thompson) is feeling very good about his brilliance. He deliberately bumped into Adam (Mark Grossman) and acted all sad and down and out, so that Adam will try to use Billy’s downfall against him.
Meanwhile, Lily (Christel Khalil) went to Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and asked for help with figuring out how to know when Billy is in a downward spiral. When Lily tells Billy about it, he instantly gets huffy and assumes Lily doesn’t trust him anymore. When she tells him that she did it all for him, Billy magnanimously forgives her. Why is she hanging around this guy, if his first instinct is to assume she’s out to betray him?
While Lily is assuring Billy that she will never lose faith in him the way his awful ex-wife did, said awful ex-wife is truly concerned about Billy. She is also feeling stronger about her decision to send Johnny and Katie to boarding school after the holidays so they don’t have to watch their beloved father break down. How is Billy going to feel about that aspect of his plan? As Billy drinks, a mystery woman watches…and takes photos.
But things are already going Billy’s way, as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tells Victoria he’s decided he’s not going to bid on ChancComm. It’s all hers. Isn’t he a great dad? Oh, but this does mean pitting her against Adam and Newman Media. Victoria doesn’t mind, does she? Adam, however, minds quite a bit.
Mariah (Camryn Grimes) overhears Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) wax poetic about her girlfriend to Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). Then she, once again, tells Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) how totally fine she is with Chance (Conner Floyd) coming home to raise Bowminic with Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway).
