The Young and the Restless is on hiatus while the country battles COVID-19. Now would be an excellent time for the powers that be to take stock and see which stories are working, which ones aren’t, what to keep, and what to cut when they return.
And if they have a hard time deciding, have no fear, Almost 8,000 fans voted in order to make the decision easier for them:
A winning 29% of the audience could not care less about Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) hotel drama. Does it have romance? No. Does it have characters we care about? No. Is it taking up air time that could best be used elsewhere? Yes. It’s time to close the door on this story, YR. Lock it up and throw away the key.
A slightly smaller 28% want to see an end to Jack’s (Peter Bergman) storyline dry spell. Worrying about Dina (Marla Adams) and wagging his finger at Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Theo (Tyler Johnson) is not a story. It’s a way to play Bergman in his guaranteed episodes. Do better, show.
What does Adam (Mark Grossman) want now? A confused 21% are having trouble keeping track? He wants Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan)? He wants Newman? He wants Victor’s (Eric Braeden) respect and love and he’s willing to blackmail him into it? His motivations don’t make sense. And neither does continuing to have him on the front burner.
Lola (Sasha Calle) and Theo… Sharon (Sharon Case) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso)… they’re dull as dishwater, 12% of the viewers assert. Get rid of them. We won’t even notice.
A last-place 8% cared so little about what Billy (Jason Thompson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) are up to with their new publishing venture that you couldn’t even summon up the energy to vote for them going away. You just hope they do. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
