Great news soap fans! The Young and the Restless is returning with new episodes starting the week of Monday, August 10. This means all four soaps will be back airing original content!
The Young and the Restless Returns
What can viewers expect to see starting next week? According to CBS: “The return will find Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) family threatened by a secret, Billy (Jason Thompson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) navigating their new partnership with a shocking scandal brewing, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) rivalry heating up, and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) family rallying around her during her brave battle with cancer.”
It appears YR will be doing some shooting outdoors, which may have been scripted in an effort to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. On Monday, August 10, Lily and Billy interview Genoa City residents as they celebrate the anniversary of Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) dedication at Chancellor Park, sparking memories of the recent past.
The Tuesday, August 11 episode was shot prior to the coronavirus shutdown. In it, Sharon struggles to find a new normal following her surgery. Billy and Lily disagree on a Chancellor Communications potential new hire.
On Wednesday, August 12, Victor and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) team up to help Adam (Mark Grossman). Meanwhile, Summer (Hunter King) reveals her true feelings about her parents — Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis — getting back together. Amanda (Mishael Morgan) puts the breaks on her budding romance with Nate (Sean Dominic).
On Thursday, August 13 watch for Jack’s (Peter Bergman) parenting advice to strike a nerve with Victor. Adam (Mark Grossman) looks for clues to prove his innocence. Esther (Kate Linder) helps Kevin (Greg Rikaart) prepare for fatherhood.
On Friday, August 14, Devon (Bryton James) bonds with Amanda, Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) attempt to keep the peace in the Newman family backfires, and Jack and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) are reminded of their family’s checkered past.
YR returning with new episodes means that all four soaps will be airing original content. The Bold and the Beautiful came back with new episodes on July 20. General Hospital returns with new episodes today. And Days of our Lives has never stopped airing original programming as the show was many months ahead between taping and airing when the production hiatuses began. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
