Fans of The Young and the Restless received a jolt of casting news today when Christel Khalil announced she was switching to recurring status with the top-rated soap. Now, the show is responding to her news!
Khalil, who has played Lily on Y&R since 2002, posted on Instagram and on Twitter that she was going to recurring status in order to pursue other avenues but wanted her fans to know she’ll be sticking around Genoa City.
Not long after, Y&R executive producer/head writer Mal Young posted a response on his Twitter account, which revealed his feelings on the actress’ move!
It sounds like there are no hard feelings as Young says that Khalil is supported in her decision and also both she and Lily will remain part of the Y&R family.
Tune in to see how Y&R deals with not having Khalil around as much. Will Lily go off to jail or will she get probation for her role in Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death and keep a low profile, which will help explain Khalil’s lack of airtime?
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
