The week of January 4, 2021
After a quick visit to Genoa City and officiating at his brother Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon’s (Sharon) wedding, Jason Canela exited the soap as Arturo Rosales. The character returned home to Miami.
Meanwhile, Eva LaRue wrapped up her stint as the mother of the groom. She made two video call appearances during the nuptials as Celeste Rosales opposite Vilasuso and Case.
Also on the exit front, Melissa Claire Egan’s (Chelsea) real-life husband Matt Katrosar was in and out as Paramedic Egan. He played the EMT, who tended to Chelsea and carted her off the hospital after she collapsed.
YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
