Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of July 8, 2019
Catherine Bach is returning as Anita Lawson, Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) mother.  The actress debuted in the role in 2012 and was last seen onscreen in 2018. Bach is best remembered for her role as Daisy Duke on Dukes of Hazzard, the primetime series which ran from 1979 to 1985.

Another former primetime star is headed to the show: Gordon Thomson, who played Adam on Dynasty. He’s set to play Daryl Tulane, a man with a connection to Chelsea during her time away from Genoa City.

Thomson is slated to begin airing at the end of the month. The actor has appeared on several soaps over the years, including Santa Barbara (as Mason Capwell) and Sunset Beach (as AJ Deschanel).

Also, Jess Walton pops back in as Jill on Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11. John Burke has wrapped up his run as Calvin Boudreau, Chelsea’s husband. He last appeared on Friday, July 5, when his character was found dead. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
