Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.
The week of October 5, 2020
Elizabeth Hendrickson returns as Chloe Mitchell on Monday, October 5. Ironically, the actress, who had been off on maternity leave, returns just as the pregnant Chloe prepares to go into labor on screen.
After a long absence, Doug Davidson pops back in as detective Paul Williams. The YR veteran has been on recurring status with the soap since 2018.
Zach Tinker is heading back on the canvas as Fenmore Baldwin, Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) son. The character last appeared in Genoa City in January.
Madison Thompson has been cast as Jordan, who’s described as a “worldly woman who will prove that there’s more than meets the eye.” The actress’s credits include the role of Erin Pierce during the third season of Ozark. Look for Thompson to begin airing in late October.
YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
