The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of January 27, 2020

The mystery man from Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) past is about to surface. Christian Keyes has landed the pivotal role of Ripley Turner, the former fiance Amanda has been hiding from and filed a restraining order against.

Keyes has a resume chock full of credits. He was a series regular on Saints and Sinners, where he played Levi from 2016 to 2018. He also recurred on Supernatural, In Contempt and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Look for the actor to surface in February.

Kirby Bliss Blanton was cast as Lindsay. The character is a new employee at Society and will begin airing in February. Blanton’s primetime credits include a regular role on Alive in Denver. She has also guest-starred on Hanna Montana and Entourage.

Please note that due to continuing impeachment coverage, air dates may be subject to change. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
