Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future? Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of May 10, 2021

The soap has released Mishael Morgan’s first air date back as Amanda Sinclair. The popular actress will return on Tuesday, June 1. The actress has been on medical leave after undergoing emergency eye surgery.

The ailing Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) medical team is getting a new member. Michael Bofshever has been cast to portray Dr. Hedges. The role is recurring. Look for the character to debut on Tuesday, May 11, and appear again on Wednesday, May 12.

The actor’s credits include multiple appearances on How to Get Away with Murder (as Senator Watson) and Scandal (as judge Mitchell Sabarski). He also starred in the primetime series, The Jersey, from 1999 to 2004.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
