The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of November 2, 2020

Courtney Hope’s Genoa City premiere is finally here. The actress, who previously played fashion designer Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful, brings the character to Y&R on Tuesday, November 3. Look for Sally to have some ties to a few of the town’s residents. Among them: Tracey Bregman’s Lauren Fenmore Baldwin.

Meanwhile, a YR vet is returning to the soap for a short run: Tricia Cast, who last appeared as Nina Webster back in 2014. Nina is slated to reappear in early November and be involved in a storyline surrounding her son Chance (Donny Boaz), who’s currently engaged to Abby (Melissa Ordway). Word is Cast will also be back the week of November 30, when the soap toasts its 12,000th episode.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
