The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of December 28, 2020
Two members of the Rosales family will be returning for Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) New Year’s Eve nuptials, this week. Eva La Rue reprises her role as Rey’s mother, Celeste, and Jason Canela is back as Rey’s brother, Arturo, on Wednesday, December 30.

La Rue last appeared on the show in August of 2019, as did Canela, when their characters turned up for Lola’s (Sasha Calle) wedding to Kyle (Michael Meanor).

In other family casting news — this time, real life, Melissa Claire Egan’s (Chelsea) husband is back for another small role. Matt Katrosar, who played Chelsea’s masked abductor in November, will play Paramedic Egan on Thursday, December 31. Look for the EMT to respond to a crisis at Adam’s (Mark Grossman) penthouse.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
