The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of September 28, 2020
Glory, Gloria hallelujah! Judith Chapman is finally returning to the soap as Gloria Fisher Bardwell, Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Kevin’s (Greg Rikaart) wild and wonderful mother.

Chapman, who first appeared in the role back in 2005, was written off in 2018 and hasn’t been seen since. However, the actress did pop up at Days of Our Lives in the interim, playing Diana Colville. Look for Gloria to resurface sometime in October.

Eileen Davidson is back for more screen time as Ashley Abbott. Look for the character to share some key scenes with her YR big brother, Peter Bergman’s Jack, this week.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
