Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

The Young and the Restless C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day-player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of April 19, 2021
Mishael Morgan is temporarily out as Amanda Sinclair. The actress had to take a short leave from the soap to deal with an eye injury that led to emergency surgery. Morgan, who is currently recuperating at home, explained on Instagram that the issue has left her “out of commission” and posted a photo of herself donning a large bandage over her eye.

Stepping in to fill the role of Amanda during Morgan’s absence will be an actress very familiar to CBS soap fans; particularly fans of The Bold and the Beautiful. Karla Mosley, who portrayed Maya Avant Forrester from 2013 to 2019, will begin subbing for Morgan later this month. She reportedly conferred with Morgan before she began tackling the part.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
