Mishael Morgan is taking a break from The Young and the Restless while her recent eye injury heals. A familiar face is stepping in to take her place while she recovers — Karla Mosley, best known as Maya on The Bold and the Beautiful, will be playing the part of the attractive attorney.
Karla Mosley Temporarily Replaces Mishael Morgan
Soap Opera Digest first reported the casting news. In a joint statement, executive producer Anthony Morina and head writer/co-executive producer Josh Griffith said: “We’re grateful that Karla Mosley, a seasoned actor and consummate professional, was able to step into the role of Amanda during Mishael Morgan’s temporary absence.
Mishael is a valuable member of the YR family and will be back on air soon to continue her journey as Amanda,” the statement adds. Morgan had recounted her eye injury incident and surgery in an Instagram post.
Fortunately, Mosley won’t be walking into the situation blind. “I was able to connect with Mishael, who is such a goddess,” Mosley told Digest. “We had always been friendly whenever we saw each other around CBS, but we never had a real heart-to-heart sit-down. The only hesitation that I had about doing this is that I was stepping into such big shoes because Mishael is so beloved and such a wonderful human and actor.

“It was great that I could talk with her and say thank you for leaving me such a wonderful path to follow,” Mosley adds. “I also told her, ‘I’ll be happy when you’re healed and able to return.'”
Mosley is set to make her YR debut on Monday, April 26.
The actress made her daytime premiere on Guiding Light in 2008 as the character of Christina. She played that part until the show’s finale in 2009. In 2013, she debuted on BB as Maya Avant. After being on the canvas for a few years, Maya’s sister Nicole (Reign Edwards) joined the cast. In one of daytime’s most shocking scenes, Nicole said to Maya that she wasn’t her sister but rather her brother – Myron!
Mosley told Maya’s story, which culminated in marrying Rick (Jacob Young), having a daughter, Lizzie, and the three of them going off to Forrester International.
