The Young and the Restless fans have been devastated of late at the way the Winters clan have become a diminished part of the Genoa City scene, but with the death of Kristoff St. John, it’s apparent how close this family remains — both on screen and off.
St. John’s Neil was the patriarch of this family, as the first Winters to move to GC as a young man and eventually start a family that just kept growing.
From multiple wives and children to a son-in-law, and of course, his on-screen brother, the Winters remained a core family for decades.
When news of St. John’s sudden and tragic passing broke yesterday, the entire soap world was stunned, but the outpouring of genuine anguish and grief from the actors who formed an on-screen and off-screen family with St. John was especially heartbreaking.
Victoria Rowell who played Neil’s wife, Drucilla, said that St. John never stopped fighting to get her back on the soap.
Christel Khalil, who spent 17 years as Neil’s daughter, Lily, spoke of St. John like he was a second father.
Daniel Goddard, who as Lily’s husband was Neil’s much-aligned son-in-law, showed us the playful side of an actor who was full of life, despite the tragedies of life haunting him.
And finally, Shemar Moore, who spent two decades as Neil’s brother, Malcolm, showed us his real and raw grief in a myriad of ways.
See what they have to say in the heartbreaking posts below.
