From the moment Allie Nguyen first appeared in Y&R spoilers, viewers knew it was only a matter of time before she abandoned the bright lights of Los Angeles for the marvels of Genoa City.

We looked around the canvas, did some calculations, and came to the conclusion: Allie (Kelsey Wang) must be there for Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). But what if we’re falling for a classic psych-out misdirect? What if…there’s a twist?

Y&R Trouble Ahead

Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) are about to get married. Up to this point, once they got past the whole Tessa stole from Mariah/Tessa blackmailed Mariah’s mom/Mariah cheated on Tessa thing, this couple hasn’t hit any obstacles on the path to happily ever after.

(Sure, Mariah was kidnapped and held hostage for weeks, but that wasn’t an obstacle to their love; if anything, it made it stronger.) No obstacles to love meant no meaningful airtime. You know what would give them meaningful airtime: A third party!

Y&R Spoilers: Welcome Home

We know nothing about Allie at this point, beyond that she loved her daddy and has issues with her mommy. Allie could be gay, Allie could be bisexual, Allie could be into redheads…or musicians. The point is, Allie is a blank slate, and it would behoove the show to think about which storyline she could best serve before thrusting her into a relationship.

Double Down on The Young and the Restless

Heck, we could even keep Noah in the mix and turn this into a quad: Noah wants Tessa, Tessa wants Allie, Allie wants Mariah, Mariah wants Tessa. OK, that’s more of a circle, but the point is, there is tons of story potential here, as long as Y&R is willing to think outside the box and enter the 21st century with some truly fresh story.
