Y&R spoilers recently said that Summer Newman Abbott has been recast. This news suggests that she’ll have a big part to play in Kyle Abbott’s reunion with his presumed dead mother, Diane Jenkins.

But what if, instead of just standing by Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) side, nodding supportively, agreeing with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) that Diane (Susan Walters) is just the evilest evil who ever eviled, and constantly leaving the room to check on an equally invisible Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), Summer (Allison Lanier) had a big story of her own to process.

When Summer first returned to Genoa City this last time, she seemed even more of a wild child than usual. There was the stealing her married, ex-boyfriend’s car, there was the blackmailing Kyle into marriage by literally holding Lola Rosales’s (Sasha Calle) life over his head, and there was the sleeping with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) because Summer was pissed off at her mother for…reasons?

Right, you forgot that little story beat, didn’t you? We don’t blame you. The whiplash from the Kyle loves Lola, no, Kyle loves Summer story was so intense, it’s easy to forget the whiplash from Summer wants Billy, no, Summer doesn’t, Phyllis is furious with her daughter, no, Phyllis is fine and sobbing her eyes out over Summer daring to leave her mommy.

But the secret is still there, floating around in the ether. Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t know about his baby girl and his ex-brother-in-law. Neither does Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).
