Sally Spectra begged Nicholas Newman to be in denial with her for at least a little while longer about her pregnancy. But Y&R spoilers hint that is just so long that Sally can remain in denial about what kind of family her child would be born into…whether the father is Nick or Adam.
Sally (Courtney Hope), herself, comes from a dysfunctional family. Sure, she loves her grandma and little sister, and she idolized her namesake aunt. But her parents abandoned her, and Sally still carries multiple scars from that experience.
This is why we suspect that when she finds out what Victor (Eric Braeden) is plotting for Adam (Mark Grossman) — this allegedly loving father is literally conspiring to hand his son a failure so demoralizing that he “hits rock bottom” — Sally will think twice about exposing her child to such toxicity.
So what can Sally do? Let’s assume that abortion is off the table for…reasons. Sally’s next alternative could be to keep her baby from the Newmans.
But how? Here comes that oldie but a goodie soap stable: Go off to deliver in secret, then tell both prospective fathers that the baby died.
And then what? Well, a reasonable person would move out of Genoa City — claiming grief — and then raise her son or daughter in literally any other city on the planet. But what fun would that be? The soapy thing to do would be much more convoluted.
Hey, isn’t there a couple in Genoa City who’s been looking to adopt a child? We realize it’s hard to recall since Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) only pop up every ten days or so to remind us of that fact, then fade back into the ether from whence they came.
But, yeah, they want to adopt a baby…and Sally has a baby she wants to be protected from Victor. It seems like they could help each other out, no?
