Y&R spoilers have teased that since giving up her baby Bowie, a grieving Mariah Copeland has decided the only way to get over her loss is to have another child – ASAP!

But she’s going to need a daddy volunteer and all signs are pointing toward her asking the same man who helped Abby Newman-Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) achieve her dreams. Will Mariah (Camryn Grimes) turn to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James)?

Perfect Sense

Mariah only wants another baby right away because she misses Bowie. Who better to fill the hole in her heart than Bowie’s biological brother or sister? It will give Mariah and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) baby an instant family and a great uncle figure. Plus, it’s only fair.

Devon had no qualms about helping Abby and Chance have a baby, so what reason could he have for suddenly becoming jealous of Mariah? She also wants her baby to have a killer smile and great musical taste. Not to mention, being heir to a major music company would certainly be a boon for Mommy Tessa, wouldn’t it? Everyone would benefit!

Y&R Spoilers: Think It Over

There are, of course, the obvious drawbacks. Just like Mariah didn’t realize how attached she’d feel to the child she carried and gave birth to, Devon didn’t expect to feel a connection to Abby’s son, especially when he thinks about his late father, Neil. (Abby gave the tot a dozen names, she couldn’t throw Neil in there, too?)

Now that he knows, we can see Devon being more reluctant to father another child – with no strings attached. Then again, Dominic Chancellor has a father – if Chance decides to ever come back home. Mariah and Tessa’s baby wouldn’t. Which means there’s room for Devon to play a bigger role. They could be the ultimate modern family. Wonder how Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) would feel about it.
