Y&R spoilers revealed that Abby Chancellor and Nina Webster were advised by Christine Blair Williams that Abby’s husband and Nina’s son was killed in a building explosion in Spain.
Y&R Spoilers Wild Speculation
Both women went into a tailspin, with Nina (Tricia Cast) making peace with the truth quicker than Abby (Melissa Ordway) could. But, considering the fact that Y&R has just recast the role of Phillip Chancellor the Fourth with soap newcomer Conner Floyd, we suspect that reports of his death were greatly exaggerated.
But why? Did the government screw up? Or did Chance fake his death? Why would a recently married man and new dad do such a thing? We’ve got some ideas:
The Obvious One
Chance was in danger from the bad guys he was investigating and had to go into Witness Protection. Oh, please. This is a soap opera. We can do better.
The New Girl
Chance fell in love with another woman while on assignment, and decided Abby would be better off mourning him for the rest of her life, rather than knowing her husband cheated on her. He did it for her sake, obviously.
Y&R Spoilers: The Big Secret
Chance found out something about Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). We knew all the secrets he’d been peddling up to this point were way too lame to justify the kind of covering up Ashland was willing to undertake. What if Chance finally learned his real secret. And it was finally a good one. And Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) took care of the Chance problem. Victor decided Abby would be better off mourning him for the rest of her life, rather than knowing her husband ever considered doing something that might upset her daddy. Victor did it for her sake, obviously.
Y&R: Just Like Dear Old Dad
Chance’s dad, Phillip the Third, once faked his own death for a reason that made absolutely no sense. Maybe Chance just wanted to follow in daddy’s footsteps.
