Y&R spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers and Nick Newman are on the rocks. Nick’s also displeased with the way his father, Victor Newman, treated him recently. Overall, it seems that the elder Newman son is discontent with life. He’s bored. We’re bored. Nick’s issues with Phyllis are solvable, but it’s pretty clearly over between them.
It looks like Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) will split soon despite their minor issues. We realized their seemingly manufactured trouble comes just in time for Chelsea Lawson to return to Genoa City when actress Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave ends.
We could see Chelsea’s return pulling Nick out of his funk. Chelsea and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) are over. She framed him for murder, and we imagine that crime will take a while for Adam to get over (if he ever does).
While Nick and Chelsea had some rocky times in the past, there’s no denying he enjoys his time with her. The last time she returned to Genoa City, she and Nick almost instantly reunited, but she ultimately chose Connor and his dad, with Nick quietly stepping out of the way. This time, Adam won’t be an option for Chelsea, and we could see the spark between her and Nick reigniting.
Y&R spoilers show that Nick seems incredibly bored. He has the same old problems with Victor (Eric Braeden) leaving him out of his plans with the same old results. While he’s been there and done that with Chelsea before, they’ve never gone through with it and gotten married.
Perhaps that’s what Nick needs — a relationship with a future. With Phyllis, it’s all about having a good time, and that’s fun for a while. However, Nick seems like he needs something more serious, and that just isn’t possible for them for some reason. However, Chelsea might be willing to build a life with Nick. If he had a real family of his own, perhaps he wouldn’t be so upset by his extended Newman clan drama.
Ultimately, Nick’s at his best when he isn’t sitting around pouting about his dad treating him poorly. We think Chelsea’s return could be precisely what Nick needs. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments below.
