What does Abby have up her Y&R sleeve?
Y&R spoilers sure did make it seem like Abby had come to terms with her mom marrying her boyfriend’s dad. Which is totally normal in Genoa City. Abby and Devon even offered to throw Ashley and Tucker’s wedding in the house belonging to Abby’s ex-husband via Tucker’s long-lost biological mother.
Which is also totally normal in Genoa City. But behind Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) perky smile and Barbie doll aesthetic lurks a young woman who does not want her mom hurt again. So here’s how she’ll prevent that from happening. Again.
Abby will go ahead and organize her mom’s wedding. She’ll pick the caterer, the color pattern, the wine, and the decorations. She will also hire the minister. It’s the least Abby can do, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tucker (Trevor St. John) have so much on their plates, after all.
But Abby won’t go to a minister agency. (Is that a thing?) And she won’t go to a judging agency. (We hope that’s not a thing.) Abby will go to a casting agency. And hire an actor to pretend to officiate at her mom’s wedding. Not only will said actor likely be better looking than a regular person who ministers or judges for a living, but they will also be unqualified to perform a marriage ceremony.
Just imagine Abby’s giggly delight when, a few weeks — months, not more than a year — down the road, Tucker betrays Ashley, and Abby gets to bust out, “Ha, ha, you’re not really married. I got you good!”
And imagine the heavy sigh Ashley will let out when she has to explain to her daughter that, as long as she and Tucker signed and filed a marriage license with the state of Wisconsin, nothing else matters. They are really married. But, hey, the cake was delicious.
