The Y&R spoilers for Monday, May 23, 2022, suggest that Victor Newman is losing his touch, as Nikki Newman defends herself, and Summer Newman Abbott makes long-term plans.
Victor (Eric Braeden) has been pacing around for weeks, mumbling about how he needs to bring down Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and it’s taken him this long to figure out that the mogul’s Achilles Heel is his son, Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez)?
Isn’t this the Victor who is always thundering about how family is everything, how he would do anything for his family, how everything he does is for his family, and if you disagree with him, you are clearly out to destroy his family and thus must suffer?
Did he not think the same applies to Ashland? Obviously, now that he’s lost his company and his wife, the only way to hurt Ashland is through Harrison. And Victor only believes his own family is untouchable. Every other man’s – fair game.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) does not understand how anyone could question her qualifications to be co-CEO of Newman Enterprises, along with her daughter. Why, she was just the COO, and that is a very natural promotion. And what was she before she was COO of her husband’s company?
Why, she ran a non-profit with her son. And before that? Well, you know, various society positions…thanks to her husband’s money. So has Mrs. Newman ever held a single job that she didn’t get based solely on nepotism?
How dare you ask that! Of course! Nikki was a very successful stripper, with no help from her family at all! And with a resume like that, how can you suggest she isn’t qualified!
Summer (Allison Lanier) has decided she’s had enough of working for someone else. So, like Nikki, she wants her husband to buy the company she’s been working for. And she reaches out to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) about a partnership. Because Summer assumes that whatever she wants, she’ll get. But don’t you call her spoiled! Also like Nikki, she’s earned everything on her own merits, don’t you know!
