On the Wednesday, January 31 episode of The Young and the Restless, spoilers tease that Genoa City ends the month with Victoria and Cole united — though Claire may not appreciate it.

Grown Up Business

Victoria (Amela Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) are getting along better now than they did when they were married, as they work together to support the daughter they thought they’d lost soon after she was born (see what Peck had to say about this story here). Victoria and Cole are doing everything they can to make Claire’s (Hayley Erin) recovery as smooth and painless as possible.

Which is why they’ve decided not to tell her that a fire at the prison means her terrible aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) is either dead…or on the loose. They’re not lying to Claire, exactly. They’re just doing exactly what she warned them not to do, which is to keep difficult things from her.

Chip Off the Old Vic

Victoria, at least, comes by the child manipulation honestly. She learned it from no less than her dear old dad. Victor (Eric Braeden) is always making choices for his children without soliciting their input — or giving them all the information they’d need to come to their own conclusions.

Now that he’s instructed Victoria on how she should handle Claire — and Cole — he has moved on to running Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) life. He’s got wisdom to share, and Nick is going to sit there and listen. Even if he has heard — and ignored — it all before.

Me Good, You Bad

Kyle (Michael Mealor) is working for his mommy and daddy now, in a job he earned all by his big boy self. Kyle doesn’t seem to understand that, when you have bosses, they might, once in a while, disapprove of something you’ve done at work.

Even if they are your mommy and daddy. Having never worked for anyone but his family for the most part, Kyle hasn’t learned that you need to accept professional feedback with a smile and a promise to do better next time. Which is why he goes on the defensive.
