The Young and the Restless Spoilers Spec: Victor Is Brainwashing Adam

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal a hard time ahead for Adam. Last week, Adam accused Victor of locking him up in a mental institution so Victor could turn Adam into the person he always wanted him to be – a son worthy of the holy Newman name.

Victor (Eric Braeden), naturally, dismissed Adam’s accusations by reminding him that he only wanted Adam to get well. Victor only wants to protect his children. Besides, Adam was rambling like the crazy person he obviously was. Who would take the word of a crazy person seriously?

Listening Closely

Would you believe… we would? Adam (Mark Grossman) has the beginnings of a point, here. We, the audience, know that Adam was plotting to blow up his father with a well-placed bomb and that he’s been having chats with an 11-year-old version of himself.

But Victor doesn’t know that. All Victor has to go on regarding his son’s mental instability is the word of Sharon (Sharon Case), a woman who had quit as his therapist weeks ago, and Victor’s “feeling” that Adam just isn’t right in the head.

Evidence of Absence

And what are Victor’s feelings based on? The fact that Adam wants to change his name and separate himself completely from the Newmans? What sane person would want to do that?

Even when Nick (Joshua Morrow) decided to give away all his trust fund money and go into business for himself, he still remained a legal Newman. And Victoria (Amelia Heinle) was so eager to stay in the fold and take over Daddy’s company that she even blackmailed Victor into it! That’s how a child should behave!

Nonconformist

Adam isn’t following the script! He isn’t groveling for Victor’s approval like he used to. He wants to be his own man! We can’t have that.

Victor almost lost control of Victoria and Nick, until they came rushing to his hospital bedside. If Adam refuses to get with the program, well, maybe a stay in a mental health facility would work.
