The Young and the Restless spoilers for May 17-21, 2021, tease a risky proposition, a criminal’s lackey in the hot seat, a cop with an agenda, and so much more.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer’s (Hunter King) engagement party is marred by the sudden appearance of the prospective groom’s former lover, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), and the child that they share. Kyle works overtime to explain Tara’s presence and to keep anyone from questioning why she’s presenting him with a toddler.
Kyle, Tara, and Summer retire to The Grand Phoenix, where an explanation is demanded…and Tara promises to give one, but not in front of Summer. When the soon-to-be Mrs. Kyle Abbott takes her leave, Tara reveals that Ashland (Richard Burgi) tricked her into confessing her adultery and that he’s now planning on seeking sole legal custody of Harrison.
And when Kyle asks what he can do to help, Tara explains that he must lay claim to his son…a prospect that both excites and terrifies Kyle.
After deciding she can no longer carry her burdens alone, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) clues Kevin (Greg Rikaart) in on just how involved she truly was in Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) recent deceptions. Though understandably taken aback, Kevin eventually concedes that Chloe had been put in an untenable position by a woman she loves like a sister.
The duo’s conversation is later hijacked by Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), who’s on a fishing expedition, about where Chelsea, and her crimes, and the actual state of her mental health are concerned. Will Chloe crack under the pressure that Rey exerts?
In other Genoa City news, Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) surprises Mariah (Camryn Grimes), Sally (Courtney Hope) sets about forging a new alliance, and Abby (Melissa Ordway) struggles with Chance’s absence.
Meanwhile, Rey makes Sharon (Sharon Chase) a promise, Victor (Eric Braeden) encourages Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Adam (Mark Grossman) to make amends, and Billy (Jason Thompson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) play hardball.
Finally, Amanda forces Imani’s (Leigh-Ann Rose) hand, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) keeps a secret from Nick, and Chelsea’s fate is determined. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
