Young and the Restless Star Melissa Claire Egan Says Chelsea's Not Leaving

It’s safe to say that Melissa Claire Egan turned in a tour-de-force on The Young and the Restless as she convinced everyone around her that she’d had a mental break as Chelsea confessed to poisoning Rey. Victor arranged for Chelsea to receive care in a facility. Does this mean Egan, who’s pregnant, is exiting for maternity leave?

Melissa Claire Egan Addresses Her Status On The Young and the Restless

The actress isn’t due to deliver until later this year and recently took to social media to explain her status with the show and thank fans for their comments on her performance. “Thanks so much for all the love on today’s episode!” the actress tweeted. “You guys, Chelsea’s such a fun character & I’m so grateful I get to play her!

“And despite the story, I’m not leaving for maternity leave for a while!” Egan adds. “Much more story to tell. You’re stuck with me for a while longer.” Chelsea was in cahoots with Victor (Eric Braeden) who convinced Adam’s girlfriend to confess all.

After Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), the detective who thought Adam was guilty, and Michael (Christian Le Blanc), the district attorney who was set to prosecute Adam, were stunned at Chelsea’s admission. After a doctor gave her a sedative the two men left. Then, Chelsea shot a look at Victor revealing her confession had been a ruse and Victor was in on it!

Of course, there was truth to Chelsea’s confession. She was responsible for Rey’s poisoning. Victor leveraged Chelsea’s love for her son Connor against her. He was going to make sure she never saw him again if Chelsea didn’t help clear Adam. Chelsea had the truth on her side as she talked about all the pressure she felt.

The good news for Adam, who is recovering from the surgery that he underwent to donate a kidney to Faith (Reylynn Caster), is he doesn’t have to worry about going to prison.
