Kim Zimmer, who entertained soap fans for many years as Reva Shayne Lewis on Guiding Light, is still in touch with her supporters on social media. The four-time Daytime Emmy-winner shared that she’s welcoming a new family member — just in time for Mother’s Day!
Kim Zimmer’s Family Is Expanding
“My latest grandson, Reed Walter Wychules!” Zimmer proudly announced via her Instagram account, accompanied by an adorable photo of the bundle of joy. “Born May 1st. courtesy of Rachel and Brian Wychules! Vincent is thrilled to be a big brother!”
Zimmer’s first major role on soaps was terrorist Bonnie Harmer on One Life to Live. She then took on the part of Nola Dancy on The Doctors, but she wasn’t done in Llanview. Zimmer returned to the ABC soap in 1983 as the enigmatic Echo DiSavoy. That role ended abruptly but Zimmer wasn’t on the market for long. She next landed her landmark role as Reva on GL.
Head writer Pam Long took GL to new heights in the 1980s introducing many memorable characters that remained on the show until it went off the air in 2009. Zimmer brought vulnerability, passion, and heart to the character of Reva. The actress won Daytime Emmys for playing Reva in 1985, 1987, 1990, and 2006.
After GL went off the air, Zimmer returned to OLTL in 2010 where it all began, reprising Echo. The writers revived Echo’s conflict with Viki (Erika Slezak), only this time they battled over Charlie (Brian Kerwin). She’s returned to the stage and appeared in the web series Venice.
Zimmer and her husband actor/director A.C. Weary have three children: daughter Rachel and sons Max and Jake Weary. Jake is an actor known for his role as Deran Cody on Animal Kingdom, set to return later this year for Season 5. Soap Hub congratulates Zimmer and her family on the arrival of Reed Walter!
