Celebrating a birthday has been very different for everyone during the coronavirus pandemic — when celebrations have to be smaller and socially distant — if at all. But this year has seen even more turmoil for soap veteran Eva LaRue, as her daughter’s father, John Callahan, also passed away. So for her birthday Sunday, LaRue became reflective and took stock.
As viewers prepare for another visit from LaRue’s Celeste on The Young and the Restless, as her son Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) prepares to marry Sharon (Sharon Case), the former All My Children star took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the love she was shown on her birthday, December 27.
“I think now, more than ever, I just want to celebrate another year of living,” enthused the beloved star. “And to squeeze the bejeezus out of all of you! Thank you with all my heart for the beautiful birthday thoughts, wishes and Love today.”
Sometimes it’s easy to take for granted that a simple kind word or message can mean so much to another person — especially in a year where there has been so much sadness. For LaRue, it meant everything.
“Your words kept me beaming all day and your generosity of Spirit brought me to tears. #NoWiseManEverWishedToBeYounger #thankYOU”
The next year could be a huge one for LaRue, now that the word is out that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are producing a primetime version of All My Children that will be called Pine Valley. The focus will be on the Santos family, of which LaRue’s Maria Santos was a huge part. Will she be a part of the new version?
She has kept a strong friendship up with Ripa over the years and Consuelos played her brother Mateo Santos on the ABC soap. Of course, daytime fans will always welcome Celeste back to YR and there’s certainly story for her if she were to relocate to Genoa City. Jack (Peter Bergman) could certainly use the beautiful distraction. Soap Hub hopes Eva LaRue had a wonderful birthday and wishes her many more.
