Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Melody Thomas Scott

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nikki Newman will stop at nothing to ensure her children are okay. This past week, Nikki stood up for Victoria in a big way against the Locke-Ness Monster, working to ensure her daughter’s happiness came first. For that and more, Soap Hub presents Performer of the Week honors for Y&R on Nikki’s portrayer, Melody Thomas Scott.

For Nikki, Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) happiness comes before her work as CEO of Newman Enterprises. In that vein, she poignantly told Victoria that she did not have to go through with her wedding to Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) to help save the company some bad publicity. The actress warmed our hearts with her fierce Mama Bear moment. But that was just the warm-up for what was to come.

Proving once again that she’s Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) daughter, for Vicky, it was all about her work. Of course, that propelled Nikki to confront Ashland himself, telling the man if he loved Victoria, he’d set her free. Melody Thomas Scott proved she was just as fierce as her longtime co-star Braeden when it comes to playing her character’s protective streak.

But doing that, of course, was precisely what Victor didn’t want, and he wasn’t pleased to hear that he and Nikki weren’t on the same page when it came to Victoria’s upcoming Italian wedding.

Nikki Saved Y&R’s Off-Screen Wedding For Summer And Kyle

Speaking of weddings, Soap Hub and Y&R viewers hated to learn that yet another huge moment happened off-screen. Thanks to Nikki, we got at least a tiny glimpse into Summer (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) nuptials. Nikki managed to paint the scene for viewers.

Nikki described the affair beautifully and promised hundreds of pictures, which we’ve yet to see. She even threw in a lovely little anecdote about how the ring bearer, Harrison, cutely called himself a “ring barrel.” Without Nikki’s words, and Melody Thomas Scott’s enthusiastic delivery of them making us feel like we were there, we wouldn’t know anything about the widely anticipated wedding.
