The Young and the Restless viewers know that Abby Chancellor Newman wants her family of three to be okay. Ever since Chance Chancellor returned, she pushed him to be fine and bond with Dominic. However, Chance isn’t fine despite all her hopes and dreams, and Devon Hamilton wants to step in as a father for Dom. Despite hating the idea, Abby gave in for the baby’s good. For that convincing performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Abby’s portrayer, Melissa Ordway.
Melissa Ordway — Performer of the Week
When Abby heard that Devon (Bryton James) wanted to take her and Chance (Conner Floyd) to court over Dominic, she felt angry and hurt. Ordway did an excellent job showing Abby’s conflicting emotions, given what close friends and colleagues she and Devon are.
However, Ordway’s performance truly shined later in the week when Abby finally listened to Chance. For months now, Abby pushed on as if all Chance really needed was time. However, when he finally told his wife the truth, Abby seemed surprised.
To her credit, though, she listened to Chance, and she agreed to allow Devon more time with their son. Even so, Ordway made it clear that Abby did everything against her better judgment. Abby looked shell-shocked as they came to an agreement alongside their lawyers. The actress sold it by making Abby seem wooden and stiff as she said the right words despite what she felt inside. Despite our conflicting feelings about the storyline, Melissa Ordway helped us genuinely feel Abby’s conflicting emotions with her performance. Kudos on a job well done.
