Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Jason Thompson

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Billy Abbott will stop at nothing to get his revenge on Adam Newman. Additionally, he’s often at odds with his former father-in-law, Victor Newman. His ex-wife, Victoria Newman, figured out Billy’s plan this week, but he doggedly stuck with it. For that convincing performance, Soap Hub presents Performer of the Week honors for Y&R on Billy’s portrayer, Jason Thompson.

Jason Thompson – Performer Of The Week

For weeks now, Billy made everyone else in Genoa City believe that he’d begun yet another downward spiral. With Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) help, he pretended to drink himself to oblivion from early in the morning throughout the days.

When Victoria (Amelia Heinle) finally confronted him and realized his glass held benign apple juice, nearly anybody else would’ve given up. Not Billy, though. As usual, Thompson made us feel Billy’s extreme desperation to finally come out on top where Adam (Mark Grossman) and Victor (Eric Braeden) are concerned. It feels as if Billy’s entire existence hinges on the outcome.

In keeping with Billy’s reckless nature, he agreed to Victoria’s new terms without even discussing it with Lily. Thompson’s portrayal made us believe that Billy indeed saw no other option, and quitting on his plan and getting a job simply wasn’t a possibility.

We’re still uncertain whether or not this battle in Billy’s war against the Newmans will see him winning, but we certainly saw Jason Thompson bring his character’s commitment to the scheme in every move he made. Bravo to the actor for truly selling the storyline.
