The Young and the Restless viewers know that Michael Baldwin is the best legal mind in Genoa City. Of course, he’s had his ups and downs over the years, but lately, it’s been mostly ups. This week, he made a big, life-changing decision. However, perhaps his most important job was the role he played as a friend to one Phyllis Summers. For that convincing performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Michael’s portrayer, Christian Le Blanc.
In the past, Michael has teamed up with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and after winning yet another case, he made the choice to leave his job as District Attorney and slow down a bit. Somehow that added up to him once again joining the Newman team, or at least the Victor team. We loved watching Le Blanc bring back a bit of Michael’s earlier years with his rapport with Victor. We can’t wait to see an older and wiser Michael work his legal magic with Victor these days.
However, where Christian Le Blanc shined this week was during a scene with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) called in some reinforcements when Phyllis tried to move away from Genoa City permanently. The monologue that Michael had during that scene played on some of the character’s and actor’s biggest strengths — comedy. Some of it was outright funny while other parts felt subtle. However, the scene turned out to be one of the best on Y&R in a while, and much of the thanks goes to Le Blanc. Both Morgan and Stafford also helped make it even more enjoyable with their animated reactions. Bravo!
