The Young and the Restless needs a shake-up, and a good and shocking new couple seems like a way to make that happen. We asked almost 4,000 fans which pairing would get your attention – and your devotion:
A winning 45% of the audience would be shocked – and intrigued – by Jack (Peter Bergman) and Nina (Tricia Cast). We get the intrigue. We’re not sure if we get the shocked. Yes, he was born rich and she was born poor. But Nina has been living the good life ever since talking her way into the Chancellor mansion via Cricket (Lauralee Bell). She’s hardly the homeless pregnant teen we first met.
And, sure, longtime fans remember that Nina was just a kid when Jack was already a grown man, with several marriages behind him. But that age difference hardly matters now. Especially compared to the woman who’s been sniffing around Jack most recently…
A smaller 29% would be shocked by Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nate (Sean Dominic). Again, we have to ask why. They’re both from wealthy, established families. In fact, their families are longtime friends. They’re both successful professionals, no one is exactly gold-digging or social-climbing here.
So the only thing they’ve got going for them that might be shocking is that Nate once dated Victoria’s sister, Abby (Melissa Ordway), and Victoria once dated Nate’s stepdad, Neil (Kristoff St. John). But this is a soap – it’s not even close to shocking!
In last place, but not that much lower is the 26% who would be shocked by Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sally (Courtney Hope). Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is likely the only one who can’t see this coming. Not because it’s impossible, but because she believes it’s impossible anyone would leave her for… anybody. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
