It wasn’t exactly a picture-perfect debut – her first scenes were battered and bruised in a hospital bed, having survived a drunk driving accident – but from the get-go, it was clear The Young and the Restless had found the right actress to replace Alyvia Alyn Lind as Faith Newman. And, ever since, Reylynn Caster has been thriving in the role.

The Young and the Restless Casts The Talented Reylynn Caster

After Lind landed the lead role in the TV horror series, Chucky, YR producers found themselves in a casting conundrum. They had to quickly find someone to take over the part of Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) daughter, a pivotal character in a front-burner storyline. It had to be someone who could not only handle the heavy workload and complex plot but also replace the talented Lind, who’d been with the show on and off since 2011.

Keeping the Faith

A casting search got underway, and Caster was hired to take over the role. The young actress had an impressive background, albeit one that focused on comedy with roles in The Big Show Show and American Housewife. However, she immediately proved that drama was something she could handle with ease and confidence.

Caster’s take on Faith has been thoughtful and composed. She immediately grasped the character’s essence, connecting with her plight and problems. She’s never tried to do too much in her scenes, instead making her mark with understated performances that allowed viewers to feel her sorrow and embarrassment over Faith’s reckless acts.

Yet, she also displayed her forceful side, when Faith rejected Jordan’s (Madison Thompson) apology for bullying her and boldly told her to “shove it.”

Reylynn Caster — Fitting Right In

Impeccable talent aside, what’s also helping Caster’s cause has been how effortlessly she’s fit in as the newest Newman. Her initial scenes with Melody Thomas Scott, who plays her grandmother, Nikki, were heartwarming. She’s also forged an instant and believable bond with her TV parents, Morrow and Case. And she’s totally clicked with Jacob Aaron Gaines, who plays her pal, Moses. Their fun banter is always real and believable.

Entrusted with a major task, fitting into Lind’s formidable shoes and “vibing” with the established Newman clan, was a tough job, but Caster has mastered it. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
