The Y&R spoilers recap for Thursday, September 8, 2022, brings hell freezing over in Genoa City (or below) when Summer Newman Abbott compliments Mariah Copeland. It’s a crazy moment you absolutely must find out about.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Well, Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) first photoshoot as the new face of Marchetti didn’t start off so well. First of all, Tessa was a bit of a mess. She felt nervous and wasn’t able to get into the groove of modeling, which concerned Summer (Allison Lanier), Mariah (Camryn Grimes), and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman). Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) was on hand, too, in order to coordinate fashion influencers and bloggers who would attend the shoot.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) managed to raise nearly everyone’s ire when he stopped by to observe how things were going. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) showed up, and after Summer tried to nicely suggest Adam leave, Kyle took over, pushing even further. Kyle pulled no punches letting Adam know how unwanted he was, not only at the photo shoot but also at Jabot in general. Adam handled it with calmness, and he declared he’d have to prove himself…again. Then, he left.
As for Tessa, everybody except Mariah worried about her. Mariah told everybody that Tessa had it, and then she went and gave her wife a pep talk. It worked, and Tessa snapped out of her worry and shined in front of the camera. Even Summer managed to give Mariah credit, but Mariah gave all the glory to her rockstar wife.
After finishing the shoot, Kyle, Summer, and Lauren went to the patio at Crimson Lights to celebrate their success. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) had just gotten off the phone with her mom, telling her she and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) couldn’t come to visit anytime soon. She nearly melted down when she heard Lauren talk about how great the designer that replaced Chelsea had turned out. Then, she got a text from Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) that made her smile.
Back at Jabot, Diane and Adam talked a bit, and they each found an empathetic ally in the other. Both Diane and Adam seemed to appreciate having at least one person who understood what it was like to be a pariah.
Young and the Restless: Major Happenings
At Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) told Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) that he planned to make a big move while Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) was out of town. Elena immediately realized that Imani Benedict (temporarily Denise Boutte) had given him the advice. Nate left in a huff to go to a meeting.
At Chancellor-Winters, Billy, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Nate, and Imani gathered, and Nate was on fire with lots of great ideas. After it was over, Lily noted that Nate seemed better, and Billy agreed. But, he wanted to talk about Chelsea, which surprised Lily a bit. He mentioned how sad Chelsea was, and then Lily gave him some advice about letting Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) see Connor.
After that, Billy texted Chelsea to bring Connor to the rooftop pool for a swim. Once she was there, Chelsea and Johnny had a little interaction, and while the boys were swimming, Chelsea was all smiles, which Billy noticed.
As for Imani, she ran into Elena in Crimson Lights, and they had a polite back and forth. However, when Imani let it slip that Nate confided something in her, Elena called her out and told Imani that she sees her and what she is doing. Then she warned Imani to back off, but Imani accused Elena of not liking Nate’s career change. At the same time, Nate called to make arrangements to move forward with the music festival idea even though Devon nixed it.
Y&R Spoilers Recap: Scheming Plans
It was a beautiful morning in Genoa City — at least, that’s how Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) saw it. She let Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) know when he walked into Society for some morning nourishment. Of course, Jack wasn’t quite buying Phyllis’s happy-go-lucky attitude. He wasted little time calling her out about Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) article about Diane. Phyllis continued denying her involvement, but Jack didn’t buy it.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) walked in, and she took Phyllis’s side, noting how terrible Diane was and still is. She also denied that they had anything to do with the article. Jack didn’t buy it from Nikki, either, though. He lambasted both women, and he insisted that both Nikki and Phyllis move on and stop lobbing grenades at Diane for Kyle’s sake.
Later, Phyllis lamented that their plan was dead in the water, but Nikki dropped a shocking bombshell — she planned to go to Los Angeles to see Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan). It seemed Talia felt her editor might give the go-ahead for more articles if Deacon had some dirt to spill about Diane. The women acknowledged their complicated history with Deacon, and Phyllis wondered if Nikki was really up for it. Nikki let her new pal know that it was past time she dealt with Deacon’s misdeeds regarding Diane.
