The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, September 27, 2022, brings Summer Newman Abbott tempting fate when she and Kyle Abbott discuss their upcoming vow renewal.
At Jabot, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) got a big gift basket from Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) happened to be there too. Phyllis and Diane discussed the basket, and Phyllis pretended to be concerned about Diane leaving the party early and if she was worried about Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) digging up some dirt on her in Los Angeles. Jack also wanted to know why Diane left early, and she noted that she was tired and it was a party for young people, so she left.

Then, Phyllis got a text from Nikki, telling her to keep Diane distracted because she got some possibly huge news about her. Diane wondered what it would take for Phyllis to give her another chance. Phyllis thought about it for a moment, and she admitted the basket wasn’t going to cut it. However, Phyllis declared that absolutely nothing would change her mind about Diane.
Jack encouraged Phyllis to give Diane a break. Phyllis said she hadn’t finished, and she noted that she had to convince herself that Diane had changed. She implored Diane to help her figure out a way to make it work since their kids seemed to have forgiven her. After all, she loves her job at Marchetti, and that hinges on finding out a way to co-exist with Diane.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Allison Lanier) walked in on Diane, Jack, and Phyllis after they’d been at home commenting on their upcoming vow renewal. Summer asked to talk to her mom alone. Summer thanked her mom for really trying. Phyllis admitted that the party had been a wake-up call for her, and she cried, saying she couldn’t keep feeling this way. Phyllis pointed out that Kyle, Summer, and Jack had forgiven Diane, and while she couldn’t trust Diane, she did say that she couldn’t continue harboring so much hate. After all, secrets have a way of coming out, regardless of what Phyllis did.
Kyle, Diane, and Jack went to Society. Kyle thanked his mom for trying with Phyllis, and Jack said even Phyllis deserved some credit for meeting Diane almost halfway. Kyle got called away for a meeting, and Jack asked Diane about Phyllis’s comment about Nikki possibly discovering something in Los Angeles. He wanted to know if there was something Diane hadn’t told them. Diane said the Newmans weren’t her biggest fans, and she noted that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) insinuated that it was to find dirt on her. However, Jack said that Kyle said Nikki went to L.A. to get a custom Forrester Creations dress for Summer for the vow renewal.
Their takeout came, and Diane and Jack were about to leave together. However, Diane got a text from somebody who’d arrived in Genoa City and wanted to meet. She seemed upset and told Jack she had to leave, which left him perplexed. Meanwhile, back at Marchetti, Summer and Kyle talked about their mothers finally stopping their feud, and Summer declared nothing could mar their upcoming vow renewal.
At Chancellor-Winters, Billy (Jason Thompson) told Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) about when he and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) revealed the truth to Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) about his biological mother. He worried about Johnny being upset, and how he felt odd about Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) reaction.
Billy also worried that Chelsea wanted to be Johnny’s mom. Lily brought up learning that Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) wasn’t her biological father and how difficult it was for her. But, despite that, she said she always felt that Neil was her dad. Chelsea walked in, and she thanked Billy for telling Johnny. She also admitted that she’d thought long and hard about Johnny not being ready for her to participate in his life, but Chelsea did ask Billy to give him a blanket she’d bought while she was pregnant with Johnny. Billy didn’t seem interested in giving it to him, but Chelsea pushed. She just wanted Johnny to know that she’s another person in his life who cares about him.
Lily asked to see the blanket, and Chelsea handed it over. Then, Billy told Chelsea she’d overstepped, and he set down a firm boundary for her to not do anything that she hadn’t been asked to do. Billy told her to back off Johnny until he was ready. Lily also gave some words of wisdom about how hard it was for Johnny. Chelsea left, and Billy and Lily talked. She offered him space to take time off from work.
Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Victoria talked at her office. She worried that he wasn’t quite ready to really do what it took to see his plan through. Nate insisted that he had, and then he pointed out that his plan wasn’t a betrayal. Then, Nate told Victoria about Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), and Victoria wasn’t so excited about an outsider being involved.
Later, Audra ran across Victoria at Crimson Lights, and she introduced herself to the Newman Enterprises Chief Executive Officer. Victoria asked what type of consulting Audra was doing on Chancellor-Winters, and the consultant said she couldn’t give that information out. However, Audra asked Victoria to have lunch while she was in town.
Victoria went back to work, and Chelsea showed up. Victoria told her it was a bad time, but Chelsea walked into her office anyway. Chelsea said that perhaps, after a while, Johnny would want her in his life, and she encouraged Victoria to work to push him in that direction. Victoria told Chelsea off, and she said she had no intention of nudging Johnny along. She also said she wasn’t going to obligate Johnny to develop another relationship. Victoria declared she was the only mother Johnny ever knew.
Nate went home, and he thought Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) was trying to avoid him. She admitted she was because no matter what she did, he didn’t like it. Nate insisted that all he ever wanted was for Elena to understand where he was coming from. She told Nate that his plan was going to be hurtful and that there were many other things he could choose to do instead. Elena called him out on trying to go too fast because he’s brand new to business. Elena said that Nate’s choice was about morality — family, relationships, and love. She said he wasn’t the man she fell in love with — the man who helped people. Elena told Nate that they needed some time apart.
Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) and Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) woke up together, and they noted how great the night before was — the party introducing the GLAM Club. Later at Crimson Lights on the patio, Noah talked about how great things were between them, and Allie worried that their relationship was too easy. Noah said it was super easy but in all the best ways. Noah said he loved how comfortable he felt with Allie.
Coming up next, you can expect Diane to make a bold move with Jack. While she daydreamed about kissing him a while ago, it sounds like this time, the two really will lock lips. What will that end up causing? There’s no way Phyllis will appreciate Jack and Diane reuniting, and it could be problematic for Summer too.
