The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, September 13, 2022, brings a clash between Summer Newman Abbott and Kyle Abbott about their mothers — what else? Diane Jenkins is convinced Phyllis Summers is setting her up.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights

At Society, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) shared a table, and the talk turned to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Jack noted that there was more to life than work, and he pointed out that Adam was perfect for the job he needed to be filled. Victor declared that Jack hiring Adam was a huge mistake.

Jack told off Victor for pulling the rug out from under his youngest son multiple times, but Victor denied it. As far as Jack was concerned, he saved Adam (and Victor), but Victor gave Jack another warning about hiring Adam since the younger man only wanted to piss off his father. Victor admonished Jack for hiring Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Diane (Susan Walters), too. Jack offered to overlook Victor’s condescension, but The Mustache wouldn’t back down. Victor declared himself done with Adam, but Jack refused to believe that.

At Newman Media, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) showed up at Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) office. She continued her apology tour, and Nick let her know that Victoria was looking for any excuse to fire her. Nick expressed his belief in Sally, but she worried that it might not be enough.

Sally refused to use Adam as an excuse because she isn’t anybody’s victim. She said it was way more than Adam — her issues as Chief Executive Officer of Newman Media were also about her own fears. Nick said he thought of her as fearless, though. She lamented having been her own worst enemy in the past, and she admitted that she still is. Sally worried that she was an imposter, but Nick told her how great she is. They bonded over feeling lost at times.

Then, Nick brought up the truth about Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). Sally empathized with him and encouraged Nick to keep believing in himself, and he noted the irony since that was the advice he’d give Sally too. They shook hands on a deal to not stop fighting for what they each wanted, and they gazed deeply into each other’s eyes.

Young and the Restless: Accusations

Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) tried to enjoy some adult time while they happened to be home alone. Alas, it was not meant to be, though. One very angry Diane knocked on the door and stormed in.

What was wrong with Diane? Well, she was angry with Phyllis. She explained to Summer that her conniving mother had hacked her computer and put some document for the Marchetti Home division with an agreement to build furniture for an exorbitant amount of money in an attempt to set her up.

Diane explained how it might work, and Summer wasn’t too thrilled about it. Neither Kyle nor Summer seemed convinced by Diane’s story. They told Diane they’d keep a handle on things, and Diane tearfully told them all she wanted to be was a good mother and grandmother. Even so, she thanked Kyle and Summer for making her feel seen and heard. She asked to read her grandson a story, and Kyle and Summer agreed. After Diane left the room, Summer noted that the big setup seemed clumsy and untrue. However, Kyle took Diane’s side.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) prepared for her trip to see Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), but she attempted to hide it from Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). However, her daughter wasn’t having it. Victoria continued questioning her mom until the truth came out. Once Nikki admitted to going to see Deacon, Victoria vehemently disagreed with her plans. However, Nikki told her daughter she would be just fine reconnecting with Deacon. Nikki insisted that somebody had to stop Diane, and she’d do whatever it took to get “that woman” out of their lives. Nikki promised Victoria she’d be careful, and then she called and updated Phyllis, asking the latter to do her part at Marchetti.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Out Of Sync

Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) had hoped to spend some time with his wife out by the pool, but he looked over at Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), and she was already in dreamland, so he left her alone to catch some Zzzs.

Speaking of dreams, Abby had one, and in it, Chance had to cancel date night, and he commented that the case he was working on was the most important thing to him. Understandably, Abby wondered how it took precedence over her and their family. Abby woke up with an unhappy look on her face.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was at loose ends in her hotel room, so she left. Chance showed up at Crimson Lights and chatted with Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case). Chelsea walked in, asking to join him with a decaf coffee. Sharon got called away, so Chance and Chelsea shared a back and forth about their days. She revealed how lonely and anxious she felt going back to her suite alone after her afternoon with Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind).

Chance shared some techniques he’d learned from his therapist for relaxing to get to sleep more easily. Chelsea happily took the advice. Later, Chance got back home, and Abby wondered where he’d been. She wasn’t happy after her dream and waking up to Chance being gone. She said she felt like they were out of sync as a couple, but Chance insisted that they were beyond fine with nothing to worry about.

Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers: An Unexpected Connection

Coming up tomorrow, Adam will notice a connection between his ex-girlfriend and brother. That’s not surprising given the bonding that’s been happening between them in Sally’s office. It doesn’t seem like Adam is in any headspace to handle this new information very gracefully. In fact, it might just be enough to send Adam spiraling back to the dark side after he managed to stop his downturn in its tracks. Be sure to check out the daily breakdown below.
