The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, October 18, 2022, brings a surprising moment from Connor Newman when Sally Spectra finds him alone at Crimson Lights.
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) talked about their situation, and he informed her that Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) said he was not back in Genoa City to take over Chancellor-Winters. They went on about how Nate Hastings’s (Sean Dominic) betrayal hurt so bad.
Lily said Nate didn’t reveal who he’d been planning the takeover with, and Devon pointed out that the smart thing to do was to pull the plug on the Initial Public Offering deal. However, Lily said that they couldn’t do that just yet. Devon wasn’t happy at all, but Lily reminded him that Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton) owned part of the company. Devon threw a fit and told her that he wasn’t going to do the IPO.
At Newman Enterprises, Nate showed up to tell Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) what had happened. She didn’t think that Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) would’ve betrayed him like that, but Nate admitted he was the one who exposed his plan to Lily and Devon.

Victoria wasn’t at all happy, but Nate explained himself. He said he’d been ready to push forward, but then Elena walked in to tell her she was leaving him for good. Victoria apologized, and she even admitted she may have played a role in it. She relayed the conversation she had with Elena at Crimson Lights and feared she probably made things worse.
Even so, Nate didn’t blame Victoria, and he decided to confess and make a big change to save his relationship with Elena. Victoria told Nate he should’ve figured it out sooner. But Nate said he knew deep down inside that Elena was right because he didn’t want to lose his family.
Nate apologized for ruining the deal, and Victoria wondered when Lily and Devon would knock down her door. Nate admitted that he never mentioned her name, which put suspicion on Tucker. Victoria thanked Nate, and then she said that because they didn’t realize she was the Chief Executive Officer he’d spoken with, their plan wasn’t dead yet. She wanted to know what Nate had left to lose by selling his shares to her. It seemed Victoria wasn’t willing to give up on her plan of being in charge of Chancellor-Winters.
Unfortunately for Victoria, Nate didn’t actually have any shares — just the seat Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) left him a seat on the company. He said Elena’s words were true, and he couldn’t actually go through with it. Victoria couldn’t blame him for being true to his family. Because Nate kept Victoria’s name out of it and came to her immediately, she offered him a job at Newman Enterprises to reward his loyalty to her.
Nate went home alone, and he was sad without Elena there. However, there was a knock on his door, and he opened it to an angry Devon. Devon demanded that Nate finally come clean to him, especially since there wasn’t a job on the table to hold anything back.
Sally (Courtney Hope) sat in her chair at Newman Media, and she relived some of her favorite moments from her relationships with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Then, Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) knocked on her door and asked for a minute.
Summer pushed into Sally’s office, and she asked Sally to tell her what was going on with her dad. Sally tried to play it off as lunch meetings, but Summer wouldn’t take that as an answer. Then, Summer told Sally to cut the crap because she’d seen Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sally at Crimson Lights locked in an embrace. Summer put Sally on notice and told her she didn’t trust the Newman Media CEO. Sally said it was old news and declared she’d changed.
Summer said Nick deserved better, and Sally made a comment about Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and her drama. Summer declared Sally a trainwreck and said Nick didn’t deserve to be pulled into her life. Sally pointed out that Nick actually deserved more credit from his daughter, and she advised Summer to let her dad make his own choices.
Sally wanted to know why Summer confronted her about it and not Nick. Summer said because she wanted to know what was really happening. Summer insinuated that Sally switched from Adam to Nick because Nick now had an in at Newman Media since Adam was out.
Nick found Adam on the rooftop at The Grand Phoenix. Adam wanted his brother to leave, but Nick said he wasn’t leaving until they’d agreed not to put Sally in the middle of yet another Newman brother feud. Nick asked Adam if he had to protect Sally from him in the future, and Adam said he wasn’t a danger to Sally. He told Nick that he and Sally were free to do whatever they wanted, and Adam lamented the “Curse of the Black Sheep,” which he said meant he’d be destined to lose everything he wanted and loved to one sibling or another.
Nick told his brother he didn’t believe in curses and that everybody makes their own destiny. Of course, Adam pointed out that Nick nearly always gets what he wants. Even so, Nick wanted to ensure that Adam would accept the situation even if he still loves Sally. The younger man said that Nick had nothing to worry about, and then he said he had to go to work.
At Jabot, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) made last-minute plans for his and Summer’s honeymoon. Adam walked in, and Kyle confronted him about looking like he was in no condition to work, and he complained that Adam rarely even bothered to come in. Kyle reiterated that he’d told Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) that Adam would only be a liability.
They snarked back and forth, and Kyle accused Adam of continuing to dig himself a hole. Adam said he wasn’t going to explain himself to Kyle, and that was fine by him. After all, Kyle and Summer were about to head out on a vacation.
Summer found Nick at Society, and she told Nick how much she didn’t want him to be with Sally. Nick told his “Supergirl” that he and Sally were merely close friends. He reminded his daughter that he could take care of himself. He distracted Summer by talking about her honeymoon and packing, but Summer was worried about leaving Marchetti. She wasn’t worried about the work, but she was worried about their moms.
Kyle arrived, and Nick stood to leave. She told Nick that their conversation wasn’t over, but Nick wasn’t hearing it. Kyle asked his wife what was going on with Sally and Nick, and she said they insisted they were just friends, but Summer suspected there were benefits involved. He also noted that Adam had shown up looking hungover, but then they both agreed to simply enjoy their upcoming trip and stop talking about everything else.
Sally ran across Connor (Judah Mackey), sitting alone, waiting on Adam. He wondered if Sally was there to take him to his dad. She said she wasn’t, and the little boy seemed sad that Sally and his dad hadn’t gotten back together. Sally expressed her surprise that Connor realized she was dating his dad. Connor said that Adam was always in a good mood after he saw Sally.
Adam received a text from Sally that told him to come to Crimson Lights ASAP for Connor. Meanwhile, she kept Connor engaged in talking to her over a drink at the coffee shop. Sally asked him how Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was doing, and he admitted he’d lied to her to get her to drop him off and leave. Connor admitted that things weren’t fine between him and his mom.
Nick showed up at work, and Victoria apprised him of the situation with the Chancellor-Winters IPO. Nick wasn’t at all sad. However, Victoria left him concerned when she revealed she wanted to replace Sally as CEO of Newman Media with Nate. He expressed his dismay that Victoria would fire Sally without cause, but she said Nate proved his loyalty to her. Nick put up a fight for Sally, but Victoria said that Sally wasn’t qualified, but he pointed out that Nate wasn’t any more qualified. They tabled the discussion…for now.
Coming up tomorrow, expect to see Jill arrive to chaos at Chancellor-Winters. Things will be especially awkward, considering Devon is so dead-set against the IPO now. Will his ideas win out, or will Jill try to pull rank? It’s certain to be a contentious moment.
