The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, May 3, 2022, brings a confrontation between Lily Winters and Billy Abbott. Plus, several people got what would have been the shock of a lifetime for some when they learned of Diane Jenkins’s return to the living…and Genoa City.
Ouch! Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) told Billy (Jason Thompson) she regretted most conversations she’s had with him, which presumably includes the very vulnerable convo they had when she revealed Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) cancer lie. No matter, she does look awfully great with her cane, even though she’s uninterested in discussing the accident or what led up to it anymore.
One thing Billy did want to know from his ex, though. Is Ashland still in Victoria’s life? While it’s none of Billy’s concern, Victoria admitted she hadn’t spoken with Ashland since the accident just yet, but they’re getting an annulment. Victoria knows she made a mistake and Billy was right — as was Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Victoria planned to move forward the best way she could.
Then, Lily (Christel Khalil) walked up, and Victoria left in a huff, leaving Lily wondering what the whole thing was about. Lily seemed super irritated about her boyfriend involving himself in Victoria’s life. After all, Victoria is a grown woman who can take care of herself. Lily begged her boyfriend to please stop his obsession with Ashland and Victoria.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) confronted Diane (Susan Walters). After all, Kyle (Michael Mealor) is part of the Newman family these days, which means he’s Victor’s concern. Never mind that he has a dad — Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Victor warned Diane to get out of town on a bus if she truly wanted what was best for everyone. Then, he threatened her by reminding her what he’s capable of. Hint Diane: It’s far more than sneaking into your hotel room.
Victor went to Newman Media, and then Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) rushed in looking for Victoria. She showed up right about then, and Nikki had something to say about the accident, but Victoria tried to blow off her mom. However, Nikki refused, and she finally told Victoria that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) died of a heart attack. The accident wasn’t Victoria’s fault. She felt relief to no longer feel guilty about Rey’s death.
Then Victoria announced the company would revert to its original Newman Enterprises name. She also told her dad that Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) CEO services are no longer needed. Victor felt it was a mistake, but Victoria insisted. Victor said Victoria was acting irrationally. She gave her father an ultimatum — Adam or me. She couldn’t deal with his second-guessing anymore.
Victoria left, and Adam wanted to talk to Victor. However, Victor wasn’t ready to talk to Adam about the situation with Victoria. Instead, he told his son that Diane is alive and back in Genoa City.
Meanwhile, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) caught up with Kyle (Michael Mealor). She told him all about her wedding to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and asked him to save the date. Then, he gave his condolences about Rey, and he even mentioned talking to Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle).
Mariah had a big question for her friend, and Kyle immediately presumed that meant best man. However, Mariah had something else in mind — officiant. While Kyle felt honored, he tried to decline due to personal reasons. Mariah pressed, and Kyle asked her to go back to his house to have a private conversation. Once there, Kyle dropped the bombshell that Diane is alive and in Genoa City. Understandably, Kyle was all messed up about it and drinking in the middle of the day because…crazy!
Mariah encouraged Kyle to be extremely careful when it came to his mother, considering the circumstances. Speaking of Diane, she placed a call to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) at the end to say she planned to leave for Los Angeles the next morning.
Sally (Courtney Hope) and Adam enjoyed some adult time. Then, she asked him about his visit to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case). Sally was happy to know about it, and she wanted to be fully open and honest in their relationship. Sharon is lucky to have a friend like Adam helping her with her grief. She’s not jealous of Adam’s past because she feels ultra-confident in their relationship. Adam concurred — their relationship feels so right.
After seeing Sharon, Adam realized life is too short, and both he and Sally reaffirmed their agreement that they’re falling in love.
