The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, May 20, 2022, brings a moment so unusual that it seems like hell might have frozen over when Phyllis Summers and Ashley Abbott bonded, but don’t expect that to last long in light of Phyllis and Jack Abbott hooking up. Plus, Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott found out about Ashland Locke’s lies, Allie Nguyen made a big decision, and Chloe Mitchell Fisher helped Esther Valentine update things.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) stomped into The Grand Phoenix to give Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) the what for because Diane (Susan Walters) was staying at the hotel. Ultimately, Phyllis talked her down, and the two women made an agreement to oust Diane from Genoa City.
After all, Kyle (Michael Mealor) isn’t really grown and he’s so vulnerable and can’t look out for himself. Ashley even stated she could accept nearly anything if it meant freeing them from Diane (oh, Ashley, if you only knew).
Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) was there, and she got the skinny on all things Diane, which of course, shocked her. She especially didn’t appreciate Phyllis’s “joke” about murdering Diane…for real this time.
Then Phyllis dropped the big news that she and Jack moved forward in their relationship. Of course, it wasn’t so great that it seemed like Phyllis hooked up with Jack (Peter Bergman) because of Diane.
Later, Jack stopped by to see Phyllis at work, and she wanted to celebrate Diane checking out. Then, she admitted how happy she’d be for their kids to head back to Italy…she’ll probably soon find out that they’re hoping to stay, but Jack didn’t mention it at the time.
Young and the Restless: A New Hope
Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) tried to get her mother Esther (Kate Linder) to focus on other parts of life outside of being a grandma. After all, there’s more to life than taking care of grandchildren full time. While Esther wasn’t too interested in Chloe’s suggestions, she did have one of her own. Esther declared she wanted to find love.
That led to some flashbacks of Esther’s not-so-lucky-in-love life moments, bringing nostalgic scenes with Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton). They used some of Esther’s experiences working at the Chancellor mansion to enhance her online dating profile. Chloe even apologized for being embarrassed of her mom’s profession. Any guy who swipes right on Esther’s profile is lucky, and she got her first swipe right off the bat.
Y&R Spoilers Recap: It’s Complicated
Kyle and Summer (Allison Lanier) told Jack that they intended to stay in Genoa City, which made Jack happy. However, he informed them about Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) big cancer lie. Not surprisingly, both Summer and Kyle were horrified, and they vowed to protect Harrison (Kellen Enriquez). Then, Kyle realized that his mom did basically the same thing to him.
Later, while Harrison played at the park, they discussed the whole situation, and Ashland showed up. That led to some awkwardness because Harrison ran straight into his father’s arms. Ashland asked for some alone time with the boy, but Summer and Kyle said no because of his lies. Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) lurked in the shadows, overhearing.
After they sent Ashland away, Victoria walked up, and Summer hugged her aunt. They chatted about Ashland’s nonsense, but Victoria said she was handling it all just fine. However, later, Victoria flashed back (in recreated flashbacks) to being happy in Italy with Ashland so she called her mom to say she’d changed her mind and wanted to take a trip together after all.
Y&R: Family Time
Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) got the great news that her grades were better than she thought they’d be. She’s finished with her studies, and now she had nowhere to go, so Allie decided to stay in Genoa City for a while. Then, Ashley walked in and they nerded out a bit about chemistry. She gabbed about everyone she met at the wedding, especially Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). It seems Allie doesn’t have any post-school plans, which might change if Ashley gets her hooked up with the family business.
