The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, June 17, 2022, brings a day filled with memories for Traci Abbott and Ashley Abbott as they answer all of Allie Nguyen’s questions about the family. It was a day that was 40 years in the making for both women.
The scene was set as Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Traci (Beth Maitland) arrived at Society for their special get-together with Allie (Kelsey Wang). The women both complimented Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) on setting up such a gorgeous environment for the newest member of the Abbott family.
Although she didn’t know quite where to start, Allie took the opportunity to ask her aunts lots of questions about their lives. Details about Traci’s rivalry with Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman), her singing with Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian), and her romance with Brad Carlton (Don Diamont now Bill Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful) came out. The happiness and the sadness, including Traci’s addiction to diet pills in her earlier years and losing her daughter Colleen Carlton later.
As for Ashley, she told Allie all about her love of all things chemistry at Jabot, following in their father, John Abbott’s (Jerry Douglas) footsteps. She also relayed the unexpected romance she shared with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), which led to a rivalry with her pal Noah Newman’s (Rory Gibson) grandmother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Then, the rather complicated details of Abby’s paternity and Ashley’s romance with Brad also came up.
After their meal, the women went to the Abbott mansion where they met with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Both men gave Allie even more insight into her aunts as well as the family in general. They all agreed that the breakfast table remained among the most important Abbott traditions.
During that time, Ashley recalled fighting breast cancer and how much their father helped her make it through the illness.
A text from Noah ended up with Allie leaving, and Billy took that opportunity to slip out too. Then, Jack thanked Traci and Ashley for including his granddaughter and sharing details with her. Talk turned to Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). They relayed that they didn’t explore Dina with Allie because they didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable about her own mother.
After that, Dina’s children relived some of the hurt and pain they dealt with due to her abandoning them. Traci remembered feeling unwanted by their mother while Ashley relived the upset she felt at learning John wasn’t her biological father. In the end, they were able to make at least some peace with Dina. Ultimately, they felt hope for the future and wondered where all the time had gone.
