The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, February 22, 2022, brings an unexpected moment between Jack Abbott and Victor Newman as the former buys the latter a drink. Plus, Traci Abbott enlightened Phyllis Summers about Luan Abbott while Devon Hamilton, Abby Chancellor, Amanda Sinclair, and Chance Chancellor worried about Dominic, and Nate made a house call.
Poor poor Jack (Peter Bergman). He’s been lying to everybody about Keemo Abbott all these years. Well, he never even really told his ex-wife, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), but he pretended to Traci (Beth Maitland) that he remained in contact with his eldest son via email and the occasional phone call. Turns out that was all a dirty lie because Jack was too embarrassed to admit that Keemo cut him out of his life shortly after he left Genoa City. Perhaps that’s why Jack rarely discusses Keemo.
Well, Phyllis was furious at whoever sent Jack the mysterious text messages, and she reminded Traci that she had “resources” to deal with this type of thing. Phyllis promised to make whoever did something so cruel miserable for the foreseeable future. Traci gave her ex-sister-in-law the lowdown on the great love of Jack’s life. Of course, Phyllis, you were also a great love of Jack’s life. Obviously. Never mind that you slept with his brother and all that.
As for Jack, he took his sorry self to Society for a drink where he ran into none other than his great business nemesis, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Victor was just leaving after having a heart-to-heart with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) about Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) and the possibility of Nate leaving the medical field.
Jack offered to buy Victor a drink, and he accepted. The two talked regrets, and The Mustache felt he knew just what bothered Jack — their old business feud. Nope, not quite, Victor. Really, Jack? Not even when you left Victor to die on the floor? Not even that. After all, Jack, who isn’t a doctor, always knew Victor would be fine.
Well, what was eating Jack, then? Seems he felt upset about failing as a father. Victor pointed out that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) was just fine, but it wasn’t Kyle who Jack felt upset about. Apparently, Victor forgot about Keemo, or something. That said, Victor admitted he had regrets, but not really. Sure there were times as a father he messed up so badly he felt it was insurmountable, and yet, here he is and all his kids are more or less fine too.
Victor left Jack with the thoughts that regrets are only good if they spur you on to new action. Plus, it’s how you handle it that ultimately matters. In the end, Victor tries to look forward, never backward, but the past is never done with anyone.
At the Chancellor Mansion, Chance (Conner Floyd) worried about Devon (Bryton James) being more of a father than he’d ever be. Devon pointed out that he hadn’t met Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) until he was a teenager, and Neil played a huge role in his life. Devon promised the worried dad that it would all come, and biology played no role in the dad he’d be for Dominic.
Meanwhile, Abby (Melissa Ordway) worried about Dominic, and she ordered way too much Chinese food, complete with multiple fortune cookies in case she didn’t like the fortune she opened.
Devon opened one that read, “serious trouble will pass you by.” Whew! Everybody breathed a sigh of relief. Then, Abby’s read, “a dream you share with others will come true,” but she didn’t seem so thrilled. Although the Chancellor mansion is huge, it seemed a wee bit crowded with Dom’s three parents and Amanda.
Nate spent much of the episode wondering if he should work for Ashland at Newman Locke. He also made a short house call to check on Dominic, who was doing great. Nate also checked up on Devon after his bone marrow donation, and Devon professed he felt just fine. Nate ate the leftover food Devon had hoped to have for breakfast. Oops.
