The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, August 8, 2022, brings a flash of old Diane Jenkins for Jack Abbott after Kyle Abbott informed her Summer Newman Abbott hired Phyllis Summers to work at Marchetti. Plus, Chance Chancellor has questions for the Newmans, but nobody wants to answer them truthfully.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Allison Lanier) discussed the pros and cons of hiring Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) for a high-powered position at Marchetti. Kyle had mostly cons while Summer really played up the pros. Not surprisingly, they both worried Phyllis had ulterior motives where Diane (Susan Walters) was concerned.

Then, Kyle surprised Summer by agreeing to hire Phyllis with some conditions for both Phyllis and Diane — that they play nice together. Fun times for all. One big happy family for sure. They left to inform their respective mothers of the details.
Summer showed up at The Grand Phoenix to tell Phyllis all about the job and its requirements, and she wasn’t at all that impressed by Phyllis’s jokes. So, Phyllis got serious and accepted the job — after all, she’s doing all of this for Summer because she loves her. Phyllis’s words certainly carried multiple meanings.
Later, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) stopped by, and she was thrilled to hear about Phyllis’s new job and step one of the plan to bring down Diane starting. Of course, Phyllis rained in her parade a bit by mentioning how closely Kyle and Summer planned to watch her and Diane, but absolutely nothing would get in the way of Phyllis taking down their nemesis.
Meanwhile, at Society, Diane literally choked on her drink when Kyle gave her the news. She really threw a bit of a fit about how Phyllis wanted to bring her down and ruin everything she’d worked so hard to build. Kyle remained calm and told his mom not to allow Phyllis to do it.
At Chancellor Park, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) cheered on the wonderous Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). Then Traci asked him about Diane’s grandmothering skills, and Jack wondered what she really meant.
Later, Jack ran into Diane at Crimson Lights, and she was in a tizzy over the news that she and Phyllis would soon be coworkers. Jack saw a hint of old Diane, and he warned her to keep things on an even keel.
Finally, Chance (Conner Floyd) stopped by Newman Enterprises to give Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) a chance to come clean about Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death. They had nothing to say, though. He left, and Victoria blamed Nick for insisting that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tell him the truth, and then she blamed him for telling her the truth too.
At the Ranch, Nikki and Victor talked things through, and Victor told Nikki he hadn’t done a thing to Ashland. They spoke a bit about Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and decided to table the discussion, and then she left. After that, Chance showed up with some questions. He and Victor sat at the chessboard, and The Mustache stuck to his story.
