The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 31, 2022, brings a surprising change of heart for Adam Newman, which leads Jack Abbott to hire him at Jabot, and not surprisingly, plenty of people aren’t too happy about that. Plus, Chance Chancellor wraps up Rey’s cases, letting Chelsea Lawsons and Sharon Rosales know, while Noah Newman and Allie Nguyen face some mild embarrassment with Traci Abbott after they enjoyed some adult time.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Adam (Mark Grossman) met with Jack (Peter Bergman) at Jabot, and he asked if the co-CEO position was still open. Jack hired Adam on the spot, and they worked out some of the details. Of course, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) happened into Jack’s office while they were there, and he was way less than impressed with his brother’s latest hire.
When Jack took a phone call, Billy warned Adam not to mess with his family’s business. Adam wondered why it mattered so much to Billy since it’d been so long since he’d deigned to work at Jabot.
They went to Society for a celebratory drink, which Billy declined. Of course, they ran into Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway). Both of Adam’s siblings seemed stunned by his move to Jabot, and Nick even called his brother out for leaving Newman Media and taking a “lesser” position. Of course, Adam pointed out that nobody has autonomy working for Newman Enterprises and Co.
Before that, Nick asked Abby why he wasn’t invited to Dominic’s birthday party, and she noted she’d have a larger extended family gathering when things calmed down. Of course, Nick pointed out that things are never exactly calm with the Newmans. Then, Abby confided in her brother that Chance (Conner Floyd) wasn’t doing so well with the decision he made in Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) case.
Adam and Jack went back to Jabot, and while Jack went to find Adam’s contract, he stayed and walked around the office. Even Adam seemed a bit melancholy about his new job.
Young and the Restless: Wrapping Up
Speaking of Chance, he saw Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) looking quite down while sitting at the rooftop bar. He offered to stay with her while he waited for his meeting, and she accepted. The two talked a bit about their troubles, and Chance opened up about getting therapy to help, and Chelsea was happy to hear it. Then, Chance mentioned that he was wrapping up Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) final case, which Chelsea loved to hear. She teared up a bit.
Chance’s informant showed up, and Chelsea looked intrigued. Later, when he stopped by to say goodbye, Chelsea tried to get Chance to open up a bit about the case, but he declined. Chelsea went back to her hotel suite and cried.
Chance showed up at Crimson Lights, and he talked to Sharon (Sharon Case). She was thrilled to hear he’d closed Rey’s cases, and then they sat and reminisced about Rey. Nick walked in, and he asked to talk to Chance, so Sharon stepped away. Chance seemed as surprised as Nick that Adam seemed to have dropped his vendetta and wasn’t planning to hold the police report over their heads. Then, Nick advised Chance to talk to Abby about everything.
Chance took his brother-in-law’s words to heart, and he showed up at Society. Chance apologized to his wife, and Abby accepted, and then they hugged, so everything is fine…right?
Y&R Spoilers Recap: New Love
Speaking of hugging, Noah (Rory Gibson) and Allie (Kelsey Wang) basked in the afterglow in bed, and she asked him about his last relationship. He said some things about it, but nothing that really explained why he’d been so upset. Then, Allie admitted she’d never really had a serious relationship because the few guys that she’d previously dated had all turned out to be duds.
Later, they went downstairs, and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) caught them kissing. It was obvious what had gone on upstairs, and they were all a bit embarrassed. After Noah left, Traci and Allie talked, and Allie’s great aunt encouraged her to take a chance on love and not miss out on things just because it was scary to trust somebody. Traci also vouched for Noah, whom she said she’d known since the day he was born. Allie was happy to hear the good advice. She also appreciated Traci’s voluminous writer’s vocabulary.
As for Noah, he showed up at Crimson Lights all smiles, and Sharon and Nick wondered what had him walking on Cloud 9. Noah admitted he was falling in love, which certainly piqued his parents’ interest.
Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers:
Coming up, you can expect to see Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) settling a debt. Given that she’s recently signed papers to sell The Grand Phoenix for a large sum of money, if that debt is monetary, then she has plenty of cash to pay it off. Of course, it’s possible Phyllis’s debt is more of the personal nature, which may mean it’s a bit more difficult to repay, but it seems like she’s up to the challenge either way.
Speaking of challenges, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) notices Talia Morgan (Natalie Morales) in Genoa City, and she’s not so sure that the Los Angeles-based investigative journalist is really there just to investigate Ashland’s death. She inserts herself into the story by offering her take on Ashland, and Talia has no choice but to listen in order to keep something of her cover. Be sure to check out the daily breakdown below to find out about what’s happening tomorrow on Y&R.
