The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, April 12, 2022, brings Sally Spectra telling Adam Newman to appreciate what he has after he throws himself a pity party. Plus, Ashland Locke pulls out all the stops to convince Victoria Newman Locke to stick with him, Nikki Newman worries her daughter might be falling for Ashland’s lies, and Nick Newman lets Sharon Rosales in on more of the family drama.
Adam (Mark Grossman) is over all of it. He doesn’t like being expendable to his family. He laid out all the reasons why the plan was bad, and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) didn’t agree to change things. Adam realized that he’ll never be the type of heir that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) will be. He’s sick and tired of making amends and proving himself. After all, he donated a kidney to Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) and ensured that Victoria’s wedding went off without a hitch. He reiterated all this to Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). He just can’t believe that his “reward” for all he’s done to get back into the family’s good graces was to be their fall guy.
Adam just didn’t see the point in being a good guy anymore. However, Sally gave Adam a bit of tough love. She urged him to be a leader and to be thankful for the millions of chances and resources that he’s had to reinvent himself these days. The world isn’t fair as Sally well knows. Even so, Sally said Adam is a saint for putting up with the Newmans, and he’s forgiven for his pity party. In the end, Adam was glad Sally didn’t know the old him, and she reiterated that he’s wonderful.
Ashland (Robert Newman) pulled out all the stops with Victoria. He told her that he’d broken into Adam’s office and looked for evidence Adam set him up, which he didn’t find. Victoria acted surprised that Ashland had already taken such a strong move. Then, Ashland said he loved her too much to have her involved in fabricating information that proved Adam set him up. He never wanted her to resent him one day because she stepped over the line and committed fraud for him.
For her part, Victoria told Ashland what a garbage person Adam was in the past, and she said she never believed that he’s truly changed to be a good guy. Ashland once again asked Victoria if she was sure. In fact, he suggested they just walk away entirely and start something of their own. He asked her to consider it and left the office.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) visited her daughter, and Victoria told her mom everything that Ashland did. Nikki declared Ashland a despicable, manipulative monster. However, Victoria told her mother that Ashland had never sounded more sincere. Nikki tried to convince her daughter that Ashland is suspicious and he’s trying to call her bluff. Victoria wasn’t so convinced, though.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) walked into Victoria’s office, and he told Nikki and his sister how terrible her plan was. Of course, she insisted her plan is the only way to do things. Victor walked in as Nikki asked Victoria if, after everything, did she still love Ashland.
Earlier, Sharon (Sharon Case) lost her mind about all the wedding planning left for Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) wedding. She even pitched a daily meeting to Nick. After a bit, she realized that Nick wasn’t at all focused on their discussion, so she asked what was wrong. Nick dumped all his worries about Victoria’s plan to bring down Ashland. Sharon agreed with him that the whole thing didn’t sound safe.
Not surprisingly, Sharon worried about Adam’s place in the whole convoluted plan. Then, Ashland walked in on their big discussion at Crimson Lights, and Nick walked out. He quickly realized Nick let her in on what had happened, but Ashland still hoped to get a good cup of coffee. Sharon invited him to visit a different coffee shop, and then she told him that she gave cold shoulders to every person who lied about having cancer. Ashland once again proclaimed his innocence. As Sharon replied, Adam and Sally walked in. Ashland told Sharon he’d hoped she would give him the benefit of the doubt, and then he promised he’d prove his innocence.
Sally offered to leave, but Adam asked her to give him a moment with Ashland. Ashland tried to blow off Adam, but then Adam offered to make a deal, which made him pause. Adam offered Ashland $500 million to walk away from Newman Locke and Victoria that moment to start over.
