The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, August 28, 2023, brings a monumental decision for Sally Spectra.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Victor puts Adam in his place. Sharon and Nick discuss pulling out of the merger. Nikki spills the beans to Esther. And Tessa gets Devon to answer her and Mariah’s questions about Aria’s hearing loss. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.

Young and the Restless: Business

Nick (Joshua Morrow) showed up at Sally’s (Courtney Hope) suite. He was in a terrible mood, so she declared an Adam-free zone, and instead, they enjoyed some adult time. Afterward, during pillow talk, Sally told Nick she wanted him to fund her business, and he was totally behind it. Now, of course, she didn’t want it to affect their relationship, but he reassured Sally it wouldn’t.

Oh, joyous day. Sally wouldn’t work with Adam, but she hadn’t told him yet. Thanks to Nick, Sally finally smiled again after losing the baby. He helped allow her to dream big enough to build something of her own to leave to her future potential kids. Later, Nick reissued his invitation for Sally to live with him, but she said she only wanted one life-changing moment at a time.

Adam (Mark Grossman) barged into the ranch to inform Victor he deserved to be CEO of Newman Media. Victor put the kibosh on his son’s plans, and he berated Adam for pushing forward without Nick and Sharon. Victor warned Adam to stop his pity party.

Victor pushed Adam’s buttons, but it seemed his son didn’t quite rise to the bait. In fact, he promised to back off…for now. Adam did, however, point out that Audra was redundant, but Victor wouldn’t commit to letting her go.

Later, Victor updated Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) on Adam’s visit. He told his wife not to worry about Adam. She had a big idea — Victor should put Sharon and Nick in charge, leaving Adam in the secondary position.

Young and the Restless Recap: Worry

Sharon (Sharon Case) stopped by Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) home (the tack house!!!) to check on Aria. Mariah snapped at Sharon after she tried to reassure them that Aria’s hearing problem would be fixable. She was just worried, and Sharon forgave her.

Later, Mariah asked about SNA Media, and Sharon updated her about the merger with Newman Media and Adam’s potential powerplay. Mariah urged her mom to fight that, and Sharon reassured her she would.

After Sharon left, Tessa suggested a hike to get their minds off Aria’s impending specialist visit. They both worried about their daughter’s hearing. Tessa had an idea, and later Devon (Bryton James) knocked on their door. He told them about his experiences with hearing loss.

Sharon and Nick met up at Society to discuss their situation with Adam. Sharon said that Nick’s brother shouldn’t be a worry. She didn’t want them to work with Adam at all. Instead, she wanted to take back her company and make it their own. Nick warned her it’d be difficult, and he wasn’t so sure they should fight Victor over it.

Victor walked in as they discussed the pros and cons of staying or trying to pull out of the merger. Nick and Sharon told Victor they didn’t want Adam in charge, and she asked Victor about his intentions with Kirsten Inc.

Later, at Society, Sally updated Nick about refusing Adam’s job offer. He let Sally know he might pull out of the whole Newman Media thing and focus on her new business, but she wasn’t interested in him being involved. She just wanted an investment and not a business partner.

Y&R Recap: Good News

At Crimson Lights, Adam was surprised to see Esther (Kate Linder), and she let him know Sharon hired her to be the manager. Sally showed up to give him the bad news she wouldn’t work with him. Adam didn’t love learning Sally was letting Nick fund her business, and he thought it was a mistake. He warned Sally that Nick wouldn’t be hands-off.

Nikki showed up at the coffee shop, and she learned Esther was managing the place. She suggested Nikki reinvent herself. Nikki was fine where she was, and then she let Esther know that Sharon’s new venture might be blowing up. Of course, Esther wasn’t pleased to hear that, but Nikki wasn’t all that sympathetic to Esther’s woes.

Sharon returned to Crimson Lights, and Esther yelled at her for going into business with two of her exes. However, Sharon reassured Esther that she wasn’t taking back the coffee shop because everything was right on track with her company.

Back at the ranch, Victor told Nikki that Sharon threatened to pull out of the merger. Nikki didn’t see how all the drama benefited Victor in any way.
