The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, August 16, 2023, brings Nikki urging Victor to stop giving Adam chance after chance.
Also in this episode, Victoria calls out Nate for lying to her. Nick and Sally yell at Adam over his blackmail scheme while Kyle and Audra make big plans for the future. Now let’s take a deeper look at what happened.
Adam (Mark Grossman) told Sally (Courtney Hope) how much he cared for her, and they were close to each other. At that moment, Nick (Joshua Morrow) pounded on his door. He roared in, yelling at Adam for going too far with his blackmail scheme.
Adam insisted that he’d merely been doing business with the blackmailing, which was something Victor would’ve done. Nick didn’t agree. Sally just wanted to know what Adam had done. She chastised Adam for trying to use blackmail, but he wasn’t sorry. In fact, he said the end justified the means. Sally left in disgust after telling him that the end did not justify the means.

“Thank you, Nick. I can always count on you to mess up my life,” Adam said. Nick warned Adam that he was jeopardizing his future. They argued a bit. Nick told Adam that Sally was with him now, but Adam noted that Sally had ordered food, set the table, and unpacked the boxes…for him.
Adam also let Nick know that he didn’t care what he thought or how he felt. Nick warned Adam to consider things carefully.
Nick joined Sally in her suite at the GCAC, and he apologized for going off on Adam in front of her. Sally explained why she was with Adam. She said their relationship had changed, and she had forgiven him. She wanted to make an effort to move forward with him. Nick was happy for her, but of course, things with Adam rarely worked out how she wanted, and Sally agreed. Nick wanted to start over with his return home, and she welcomed him back.
At the Newman ranch, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor (Eric Braeden) told Victoria (Amelia Heinle) what Adam did to Audra. Nikki wondered if Victoria could really trust Nate, and the younger woman insisted she could. Victoria didn’t appreciate that Victor seemed to trust Audra and not Nate.
Victor wondered if Victoria wanted to get rid of Adam and fire Audra. She complained about Adam, but Victor told his daughter not to worry about her youngest brother. Ultimately, Victor and Nikki let Victoria know that they had to keep Adam on due to the capital Victor raised. Victoria warned that they needed to cut Adam off at the knees.
After Victoria left, Nikki urged Victor to consider things with Adam. He admitted that perhaps it might be time to reconsider his relationship with Adam.
Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) lounged in bed. He urged her to move forward with plans for merging the companies. However, Audra turned him down since Nikki, Victoria, and Victor were all against it. She daydreamed, though, about how powerful they could be at the head of a massive media conglomerate.
At the GCAC bar, Nate (Sean Dominic) thought back on a conversation with Audra about taking his relationship with Victoria to the next level. Tucker (Trevor St. John) joined Nate, and the younger man congratulated Tucker on his recent wedding, but he wondered why he’d be there alone on his wedding night.
After they talked a bit about business, Tucker gave Nate advice about Audra. He relayed that “that woman” was self-centered and ambitious.
Back upstairs, after some talk, Audra suggested they spend the night together, but Tucker knocked at that moment. She opened the door, and Kyle greeted his “Uncle Tucker” as he dressed. They all snarked about the wedding. Tucker asked Kyle to get lost. He refused, and Audra let him know that their blackmail situation was handled and they were through.
Victoria ran into Nate at the GCAC bar. She was cool to him and let him know that she wasn’t happy he didn’t come to her about Adam blackmailing Audra. He apologized, and she let him know they had to be open with each other if things were going to work. Nate promised he wouldn’t keep any secrets from her again.
They went to the bar, and Nate said he wanted to prove himself to Victoria every day…at work and personally. He promised he’d learned from his mistakes and said he’d do anything for Victoria. She left to check on her kids.
Later, Audra and Kyle toasted each other at the jazz club bar. Adam saw them, and he snarked about Audra ratting him out. She told him he’d made a mistake underestimating her. Adam threatened to release the damning information anyway. Kyle commented, but Adam wasn’t impressed.
Adam told Audra and Kyle he’d regain control of Newman Media one way or another. Audra didn’t seem convinced. Adam left, and Kyle warned Audra that Adam meant what he’d said.
