The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, August 23, 2023, brings a big worry for new moms Mariah and Tessa as Aria fails to respond to loud thunder.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Sharon offers Esther a job managing Crimson Lights. Adam re-extends his job offer to Sally. Nick talks with Kyle about Summer. Summer and Kyle agree to divorce as Nick and Sally discuss the possibility of having a baby. Now let’s dig deeper into what happened.

Young and the Restless: Thunder

At the park, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) enjoyed some time with Aria. A large boom of thunder had them worried it would wake the baby, but the little girl didn’t stir. They worried that was weird.

Sharon (Sharon Case) sat down with Esther (Kate Linder) at Crimson Lights. She asked Esther to manage the coffee shop for her while she took on her new role at SNA Media. Esther accepted the position as long as it worked with her schedule at Chancellor-Winters.

Mariah and Tessa showed up at Crimson Lights, and they were thrilled Sharon had hired Esther. As they discussed work, thunder clapped, and Mariah and Tessa worried when Aria didn’t stir. They didn’t know if it was normal for Aria to not react to loud sounds. Sharon advised them to relax and noted that babies all do things on different schedules. Even so, she thought they should take her to the doctor just for peace of mind.

Sharon made an appointment for the baby, and Tessa and Mariah tried to reassure each other they were freaking out over nothing.

Young and the Restless Recap: It’s Over

Summer (Allison Lanier) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) caught up at the GCAC. Ultimately, she told Kyle it was time for a divorce. Kyle was shocked, but Summer insisted.

Sally (Courtney Hope) bragged that she’d distracted Nick (Joshua Morrow) from Adam’s shenanigans, and he said she distracted him from everything. Later, they walked into the GCAC, and Nick spotted Kyle and Summer. He wanted to check on his daughter, so Sally went upstairs.

Nick greeted Summer and Kyle, and he asked to speak with the younger man alone. He talked to Kyle about what he would lose if he broke up with Summer, and Nick urged Kyle to reconsider. Kyle insisted that what Summer had done was unforgivable. “Summer is more like Phyllis than I ever imagined,” Kyle said. Nick wasn’t pleased when Kyle said Summer wanted a divorce. He insisted that Summer didn’t mean that.

Upstairs, Summer sobbed. Later, Kyle knocked on the door. He told her she was right that it was time to get a divorce. She agreed and wanted to keep it friendly for Harrison’s sake, and he agreed they would. As he left, Summer told Kyle she was sorry.

Downstairs, Kyle drank alone, and he turned down an invitation to stop by Audra’s room. Upstairs, Summer got teary-eyed as she took off her rings and remembered big moments in her relationship with Kyle.

Y&R Recap: Oh Baby

At his apartment, Adam (Mark Grossman) looked at SNA Media’s new offices on a tablet, and he was thrilled with them. Adam called Sally, and he excitedly told her about the offices. He asked her to reconsider his job offer. She didn’t seem interested, but Adam got her to agree to meet with him the next day.

Sally let Nick into her suite, and he updated Sally on Summer and Kyle’s situation. Nick talked about how hard it was to not be able to fix things for his “little girl,” and Sally got sad because Nick would’ve been a great bonus dad to Ava. He agreed he would’ve done everything to be the best dad to Sally’s daughter, and he hoped he’d have another chance someday.

Sally wondered if Nick wanted to have a baby with her. Nick wasn’t saying they should or shouldn’t have a kid. He was open to the possibility.
