The Y&R recap for Thursday, December 8, 2022, brings a rival left to her own devices, a daughter concerned about her father’s love life, a husband concerned about security, a nephew furious at his aunt, and so much more.

Y&R Recap Highlights

Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) extended Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) the same second chance that they’d been given while Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) set Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) straight on his love life. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) let his Aunt Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) know how furious he was at her for helping bring Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) to Genoa City. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) told Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) about Jeremy, while Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) stepped up security. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) left Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) alone with Jeremy, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) found them. Now let’s dig deeper into what happened.

Young and the Restless: But Daddy…

At Society, Lauren and Michael were eating breakfast when Sally and Nick walked in. They chatted pleasantly for a moment. Lauren wondered if the two were dating after they went to their own table, but Michael wasn’t concerned at all. Lauren theorized that Sally might be moving on from Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to Nick. Again, Michael didn’t care even when Lauren suggested that it could affect his job with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

At their table, Sally told Nick they didn’t have the colleagues’ excuse anymore. They talked a bit about her past, and she let Nick know that she was willing to share anything and everything with him about it because she didn’t want there to be any surprises for them. Nick was surprised she’d share her worst moments, but Sally said that Nick was worth it.

Summer showed up, and she called her dad out on being there with Sally. Summer wondered what happened to Sally not wanting anything to do with her father. Summer asked for a moment with her dad, so Sally left to check in with Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson). Nick told Summer she was being rude, but she told her dad she didn’t think he’d want Sally to hear what she had to say. Summer declared that she couldn’t get on board with his relationship with Sally because, according to Summer, Sally was only using Nick.

Not surprisingly, Summer reminded her dad that Sally had blackmailed her, but Nick pointed out she’d participated in Tara Locke’s plan and wasn’t the actual blackmailer. Nick brought up that they’d all done things they didn’t appreciate. He asked Summer to give Sally the benefit of the doubt and give Sally a shot at redemption. Summer thought it was different with Sally, though. Nick said he thought Sally was sincere, and she regretted her actions with Summer. He revealed Sally had turned down his loan offer, and he let his daughter know that her attitude towards Sally wouldn’t change his mind.

Lauren told Sally she’d heard about what happened at Newman Media, and Sally said she was on to bigger and better things. Lauren wanted to know what Sally had planned, and Lauren brought up that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) wasn’t designing for Femores or Marchetti. Sally wondered if Lauren was ready to give her a second chance.

Lauren complimented Sally’s fashion sense, but she pointed out that the redhead is her own worst enemy. Sally explained she’d left all the self-sabotaging behind, and Lauren was happy to see Sally working to redeem herself. Sally thanked Lauren and Michael for their support, but she explained she had plans to forge a new career path. The Baldwins wished her luck. Sally went back to Nick, and Lauren told Michael everybody needed a second chance. She pointed out that holding grudges isn’t healthy.

Michael got a message from Victor, and he quickly had to leave after telling Lauren that the message implied that lives were at risk.

Sally returned to Nick, and Summer left. Nick let Sally know that he made it clear to his daughter that he’d be the one who decided who to date.

Y&R Recap: How Dare You

At the Abbott mansion, Jack and Diane talked, and she said she didn’t sleep well. Ashley walked in and wondered what was going on. He defiantly told his sister he’d invited Diane to spend the night due to Jeremy being in town. Ashley rudely asked Diane what it was like to reunite with her ex-lover. Jack asked Ashley if she knew anything about Jeremy’s arrival in Genoa City. Before Ashley answered, Diane left, and after that, Ashley asked Jack if Diane was trying to use Jeremy as an excuse to get into his bed.

Jack refused to answer his sister’s questions, and Ashley said she didn’t even know Jeremy was in town. Kyle walked in and said he’d confronted Jeremy the night before. Jack seemed concerned, and Kyle explained himself, including revealing that Jeremy was staying at The Grand Phoenix. Jack didn’t think it was a coincidence that Jeremy was staying where Diane lives.

Ashley tried to calm things down by pointing out that Jeremy wasn’t making any threats, but Kyle insisted that Jeremy was lying, and Jack agreed. Jack revealed that Jeremy had sent Diane a threatening text. Kyle said he was furious at whoever put his mother in danger. Jack left, and Kyle told her off for putting his whole family in danger. Ashley expressed how sorry she was. Kyle wasn’t hearing it, though.

Y&R Recap: Danger Lurks

At Crimson Lights, Victoria and Nikki caught up about business, and the talk turned to Nick’s possible relationship with Sally. Jeremy walked in, and Nikki told Victoria who he was and that he was a whole lot of trouble. Victoria wondered why he was in Genoa City, and then she wondered what her mother had done. Nikki revealed it was complicated, and she didn’t want to talk about it at the coffee shop, so they left.

Victoria wondered why her mom was so on edge, and she ascertained that Nikki had a hand in bringing Jeremy to town. Nikki admitted she’d helped set the wheels in motion, and then she let Victoria know that Phyllis went rogue and contacted Jeremy. Victor showed up, and he knew Jeremy was in town. He promised to take care of them because Jeremy was dangerous and a threat. He advised Nikki to get away from Phyllis, and he explained he’d ordered extra security for their family (but not the Abbotts). Victoria agreed with her dad, and Victor said there wasn’t anything to worry about.

Outside Victoria’s office, Michael showed up, and Victor told him to find out anything he could about Jeremy Stark.

At Jabot, Phyllis knocked on Jack’s door, and Diane walked by to let her know Jack wasn’t there. They traded barbs, and Diane dropped the bombshell that she’d spent the night at the Abbotts’. Phyllis ultimately realized Diane hadn’t slept with Jack, and Diane admitted as much. She said she had Phyllis to thank for staying at the mansion, though, because Jack wanted her to be safe. Diane pointed out that Phyllis was strengthening the bond between her and Jack.

Just then, Jeremy walked in, saying hello to Diane. Diane introduced Jeremy to Phyllis and accused them of being in contact. Phyllis said it was absurd, but Jeremy said Phyllis’s voice sounded familiar. She blamed it on having “one of those voices.” Phyllis tried to leave, but a nervous Diane tried to stop her by suggesting they had work to do, but Phyllis contradicted that and refused to stay to give her enemy cover.

Once they were alone, Diane told Jeremy he shouldn’t have shown up unannounced. She tried to get him to leave, but Jeremy said he might be there on business. She took him into Jack’s office, where they rehashed their past and his arrest and conviction. Diane denied that she had any involvement in that, and she said Phyllis had played him. Jeremy didn’t believe her, though. He didn’t want revenge — Jeremy wanted his money. Diane insisted that she didn’t have it because she’d used it to rebuild her life. Jeremy didn’t care — he said she owed him. Luckily, Jack arrived, stunned to see Jermey there with Diane.
